hello all, my name is Sam and I am currently going into my 8th week of pregnancy (i'm 38). I went for my first scan this morning but it didn't turn out too well. The sac is of a good size but my gyny couln't see a heartbeat and the embryo was only 5mm long, so my hubby and i are not holding our breath. The doc has asked us to go back next week but am down in the dumps and expecting the worst. This is my second pregnancy. The first time i was prgenant was back in Nov 2002. I lost our baby at 11weeks 3days due to a molar pregnancy (partial). I have had 6 IUI's, have contemplated IVF but decided against it. Does this mean that it will be a m/c or does anyone think that there is a chance? would love some advise.

Well normally the earliest they can see a heartbeat is at 6 weeks, and often they cant even see one then, it may be that your dates are a week out or something, so its a little bit behind. Hopefully as you havent been bleeding or having pain there is still a good chance. Fingers crossed that all goes well for you next week hun.

It could just be your dates are out hun and your ovulated late. It's happened to me this time, baby was a week behind dates and I somehow got a positive test at only 3 weeks pregnant! Good luck for your scan 
i hope that it is just that my dates are out of sync. i've not had any bleeding or cramps but quite a few of the 'normal' signs, swollen boobs, going to the loo a lot and feeling very queezy. it's going to be a tough week of waiting!!!
Im sorry for you're loss ... You dont need to leave the forum though seek advice in the TTC section you might find it helpful as there will be lots of other girls in you're shoes..hope to see you back in first tri again soon .
