My little one is a week old tomorrow. I am utterly sleep deprived but even when he sleeps I can't seem to switch off. He slept better last night but I didn't! I just lie there for hours on end and I can't seem to allow myself to drift off. I have tried napping in the day but again i can't. Is this normal? Does anyone have any advice? X

I'm sorry Youre getting so little rest. My Lo is nearly 4 weeks and I'm still not getting enough sleep. My oh says if
I was really tired I would sleep during the day but I just can't. I never have been able to sleep during the day. Last night my Lo went to bed at 11 was up at 1 for an hour, up at 4 for 45mins and then up at 6.30. She's had such bad wind I've been struggling today.

I'm sorry I don't really have any suggestions for you but it will get better.
You will sleep at night soon

Hi Hun I think it's totally normal. I was the exact same when my wee boy was born. Used to drive me mad when people would say 'sleep when he sleeps' because I just couldn't. I think it's just adjusting to being a mummy and always being on call. It's so hard to relax and sleep. It'll all calm down and you will get sleep again promise xxx

What has really been helping me when I can't sleep is this stuff called ipecac. It makes you kind of sick for a while, but after that clears up you can get a nice night's sleep. This really helped me out, a friend suggested it, and I haven't looked back. It's really helping me get through this pregnancy. :)

I used to use a relaxing sounds app with water, fire, etc on it for my LO to help him settle in his modes basket but I soon realised that it was really helping me relax and nod off too! Maybe worth getting one and giving it a try? They're free! X
