I'm not sure if mentioned it on here but, my NHS midwife nearly made me cry at my last visit, having a go at me for asking for my MATB1 form before 24 weeks when my pregnancy is viable (even though I had phoned to ask if it was okay to see her for one and she had told me yes to come in).

She is the first person to upset me like this since becoming pregnant and yet she is supposed to be the person I rely on to keep me calm and focused during the delivery. So I arranged to meet an independant midwife who came to my house today and who is absolutely lovely! We have decided to go with her and I am so chuffed she is able to take us on. It was really bugging me and now I am almost looking forward to the birth!

Yay :cheer:

i'm glad you like your midwife hun, it should make things more enjoyable all round if you have someone who can get to know you and what it is you really want.

Aw glad for u!

My midwife is nice thank god!

Some people though eh :shakehead:

Awww glad to hear you've got someone you are happy with now :)

  Makes all the difference doesn't it :)

:D God, yeah, it's really important to be happy with your midwife. just can't believe i've left it until now!

Hi Becs

That is great you have found someone fab.

Can I ask you how you went about getting an Independent midwife?

My midwife also made me cry last visit too. I am unsure about breast feeding (I can only use one hand/arm) and sought advice on bottle feeding and she didn't entertain the conversation suggested I got a double breast pump before the birth at a cost of £80 (I don't have) and give it a go. She then proceeded to give me leaflets about breast feeding and told me to go away and read up on it before I returned. She just wouldn't talk about alternatives.

Hey Moofa

That's well harsh! Here is a link www.independentmidwives.org.uk/

. Just type in your post code and it should come up with a list of those in your area.

I'm afraid Independent Midwives come at quite a cost. But we just felt it was worth it for a few reasons.

You can ask to have a different NHS midwife if you are not happy with her and don't wish to pay for an independant.

Good luck hon, let me know how it goes
