Which do you prefer to use and why?

I much prefer to go natural as much as possible, although at the moment I am on prescribed AD from the doctor...alternative is St Johns Wort which I will go on when I am 'weaned off' the tablets.

For a headaches, I will try a little Lavender oil (I love Lavender) which seems to help and as I am into crystals, I will dig into my crystal box from time to time. Even though I do believe that crystals can work, I do not dismiss that they may be just a focus and so give a placebo effect. I like to think otherwise

I like herbal teas too, for calming from time to time and the famous Bach Rescue Remedy has never let me down!

Views please :D

Bit of both for me - no amount of Lavander is going to help my hangover headaches!!

BUT, I took raspberry leave capsules when pregnant and would give anything a go really. Even if like you say it has the placibo effect... gennerally, I go without tho, and suffer vs taking painkillers all the time.

Bit of both for us!

I wouldn't be here, and neither would my mum if it wasn't for conventional medicine (insulin, steroids and bronchial dilators etc).

But I swear by arnica for bruising, nux vom for nausea and tea tree for spots, cuts etc. Lots of other things too!

But when it comes to my asthma, and my mum's diabetes you can't mess with conventional!

I am trying to use herbal remedies as much as I can (my DH calls me "Little witch" for that  ). But there are times, when a herbal remedie just wont help.

So, a bit of both for me :D

i am normally SUCH a pill-popper, if i have a slight headache i'll do co-codamol, if im a bit restless and want an early nite for work the next day i'll do some nytol. i just cant be doing with putting up with nuisances like that and i always prefer the high tech option.

bizarrely, thou, when i was pregnant i was completely the opposite i really wanted it all to be as low tech and natural as possible- i used accupressure wristbands for morning sickness and i was really into the home water birth without pain relief and breastfeeding which i think really suprised everyone who knows me! my hippie side REALLY came out in me during that time

im back to medicine woman again now- lol i take stronger stuff for a mild headache (co-codamol) than i did for labour pains (paracetamol)!

I rarely take things unless I really really need to... like at 5cm I was asking for paracetamols...

But if I do then I'll use what the supermarket sells... I half have this feeling that un-medical ways to fix things seem more placebo than anything.. although I have no proof of that it's just a feeling I have.

Saying that I do really recommend St Johns Wort (if not on the pill) instead of anti-depressants as for me I feel it works.

Each to their own I guess.
