Hello!

I'm pregnant with my third child and am desperate for a natural birth this time! With my first 2 I had to have emergency caesareans as they both got stuck! I nearly died during my first caesarean and I was under general anaesthetic for my second. I wondered if there was anyone else who was managed to have a natural birth after a caesarean? I'm desperate to this time, although have a feeling I won't be allowed!

:)

I was told if i didn't have a vbac with my 2nd then i can't have a natural birth with any more pregnancies..i think it might also depend on the consultant x

I was told the same!

Have u had ur vbac? How did it go? X

You'll need to do a bit of fighting and research (to help with the fighting :) ) but theres no reason you cant have a vbac. Ill try find some links for you to have a read of :)

My first daughter was an emergency c-section. Horrible experience. I was determined to try for a VBAC with my second. I did that successfully and it was a beautiful experience. I plan on having a VBAC with baby #3 as well. You really have to be firm about what you want. My doctors are the only ones in the city that will let you attempt a VBAC. Everyone else says it's a mandatory c-section. I don't think so! However, I'm not sure what the procedure is after two c-sections. Do you research so when you approach your doctor you know what your talking about and go from there. Good luck!

Oh wow! Nice to hear of a successful vbac!! Nadine and I are literally crapping ourselves as we want a vbac but our MWs/consultants aren't really that helpful/supportive in giving us info so as we are comfortable with it. And you know what the internet is like! So many horror stories its unbelievable.

If you don't mind...is there any chance that you held onto any info/websites that maybe we could look at just to help us out please?

Thanks. x

Me too! However there was a lady on OBEM who was having her 5th baby and she'd had two previous c-sections and she had a successful vbac if I remember rightly. x

That's brilliant Chubbie_Love! Much appreciated. Thank u! I'm eager to hear how you're 3rd labour goes. Hope all goes well. x

I decided on a section mainly because my body wouldn't go into any labour what so ever with my 1st..i'm glad i did but everyone is different..you're not allowed to be induced after a section so i didn't want to have to go overdue and end up with a section anyway..i'd do whatever is best for you xx

Oh seriously...I don't have to be induced then? That'd be great! The 1st time I had a c-section was easy peasey, but this time around I've just all sorts going around in my head...like I'm older and the scar won't heal as quick...how will I manage to walk two staffies afterwards who are quite strong...I'm probably gona end up with a c-section anyways so why don't I just go for one...etc etc

I just have the stupidest of things going around in my head...then the risk of flipping uterine rupture! Argh! :wall2:

How many weeks were you when you had your c-section? x

Aw momma it's really driving u mental isn't it??

It's soooo hard I've made my decision on vbac now n if I go over I can be induced so I'm told, only difference from normal labor is I av to be more monitored but hey I can deal with that, coz like lady above if I can do a vbac it would be so much easier n I really need to be bk up n running asap!!!

Time will tell 2 1/2 weeks till due date! N I don't think I'll go over , x x x

I also momma come to thinking, I'm only going to labor once twice three time max! So even if I go for vbac n have section I have to try it's not like I'm doing it every month x x

Hope u find a settled decision x

Maybe it's different with different consultants..i was told you couldn't be induced because there is a high risk of rupturing..i was up and walking baba dowtown 3 days after my section..but everyone heals at different paces..i hardly had any pain with my 2nd..i guess just talk to your consultant and see what they have to say and just make the decision that's best for you xx

Hey nadine, I've decided I'm vbac-ing it all the way  I've just had enough stressing over it and I'm gona let nature decide how to roll ;) But then, ask me again next week and I'm sure to change my frickin mind! Nah seriously, I'm gona try vbac and see what happens as I'd really prefer it. x

Yeh, I definitely think it must be different with different consultants too. Mine said that if they had to induce me they wouldn't overdo it on the inducing and would only let me push for around 30mins. But then they say it using probably and maybe in their sentences. Sooo,I'm just gona vbac it and see what happens.

When I had my c-section all those years ago I healed very quickly and thought nothing of it. I think now, I'm just being a scaredy cat what with being older and plenty of access to internet info

I would just love to be able to go into labour, get to hospital, pop baby out and go home without a wound to look after  x

Yes, I definitely think everyone is different. However, my docs did tell me that I couldn't be induced. The way I see it is, I'm not getting major surgery if I don't have to. If I have to end up having a c-section there really is no difference than having had it scheduled. It's definitely worth the try. I was ready to go home right after delivery. I felt great. No rips or tears. The experience was well worth giving it a go again. Having to nurse a baby, take care of a wound, get my other two girls started for the new school yr., and having to get ready to go back to work. Whoa! Just the thought has me stressed already! :)
