Have been pondering names since we've discovered we're having a son, and dad's name is Leonard, and family have suggested naming baby after dad! I didn't immediately like it, however am slowly coming to the idea of it as I think Leo is an adorable baby name, however do you feel it's cheesy or unoriginal?

I like Leo, it was never on my list as I knew someone at work called that. I don't think it's cheesy although if you were worried about it maybe have it as the middle name? My lo's middle name is James after his daddy. x

I'm not big into naming after people.. But that's not to say you shouldn't choose Leo as a name, if you like it.
My OH didn't even get his name as a middle name (not that he wanted too mind)...he gets to pass on his surname which is plenty ha.. Xx

I'm not a fan of naming children after their parents, or anyone else really, sorry! I had a different background from most and I think it's because of that that I don't like that idea. I feel the everyone should be able to have their own identity and make their name their own. My nephew is named after his dad who separated from my sister when she was pregnant, he's 15 and even now he still gets called 'Wee ....' or 'Young ....' and it's starting to bother him.

I do understand why people choose to, and it's each to their own really xx

If you love the name Leo you should go for it hun. Like some of the others have said I personally wouldn't name my child after someone for their first name, however Max's middle name is Dylan which is the same as his daddies middle name xxx

Leo is a nice name and you should go for it if you like it. I don't think its cheesy, it sounds quite cute actually.

My husband has his fathers name as a middle name, as do nearly all his friends. It seems a popular choice around here in all generations. Personally it isn't for me, we won't be using any family names as I want them to have their own identity and also don't want to favour any family member over another.

I would never have gone for hubby's name as a middle name if I hadn't have loved it - it's James and when I was younger it was what I always imagined my little boy to be called but instead I married one! x

Leo is a lovely name. I kept away from my husbands name purely because I could not imagine calling a baby Kevin. It just doesn't feel right for me. My LO has my grandad and uncles name as we both like the names as well as them being family names. We wanted an old fashioned name and it just fit :) x

Thanks Ladies have definitely gave me some things to ponder! Leo still a contender for names in the top 2 alongside Alfie, have went through a-z of baby names although I didn't realise just how many people I disliked or associated with names until we got pregnant!
