My surname is a verb, so annoying!

My surname is Burn and it rules out so many names.

I love the name Summer for a girl.... no.

I love the name May for a middle name .... eg Jane May Burn.... no!

Nature names like flowers and trees always seem to sound odd.

Fanny?

Does anyone else have to think about names carefully or is it just me?

Oh man haha that's so hard!!! I feel for you lovely. Have you got a baby name book or app to say a load out loud and get some written down that do work in one session?

Yep us too, not a verb but still makes naming tricky and you have to think about the initial, for us A, U and I are out. May is one I hadn't thought about but it wouldn't work as a middle name for us either!

Makes it quite witty discussing names though, we often just play a silly game to see who can think of the most ridiculous combination.

Just came across another ... Ash for a boy. Nope!

Its bad enough having to make sure I disconnect the r from the n or it looks like :bum:

I will be investing in a book at some point. Fingers crossed we can get this sticky one past 12 weeks.

I know loads of people with the surname Byrne or Burn mostly Byrne but pronounced like Burn.

But actually it doesnt sound that bad, or I havent heard of alot being mocked for it. I know an Emma and Emily Byrne.

Think its all about the ring to it - like you say names that are just asking for it like Ash etc are no gos Id think! :p

I have this problem. Our surname is Kidd so names like Iona, Nick, Jay, Fay are out we had more but can't remember now.
I suggest you avoid Richard

You should also avoid oliver- sounds like all over burn.
We need to avoid Luca - look a Kidd and Noah - know a Kidd

Ha ha  Richard is def one to avoid!

Try to choose very strong words. May be Power. Power Burn sounds good.

I have a hideous surname which makes all names sound rubbish. Should have kept my maiden name! I love nature names so we will pick the names we like because nothing goes well with this crap!

Hehe I now have a surname similar to yours bur it was miles better that my oh''s surname before we got married so we went back to his mother's maiden name now the name I have in mind for a little girl works where before it made her sound like a porn star!

What if you have like a double name? Like Anna-Mila or Ella-June or Ivy-Grace or I dunno. I'm making them up as I go :)

That's a good idea to split the name so its less obvious. I'm not sure about hyphens though.

my other half's surname is White - doesn't sound too bad until you fall in love with the name Isla..

might just call it Snow and be done with it!

xx
