Sorry, I know loads of mummies go overdue but I am now officially fed up and struggling to stay positive.

There is no sign that this baby is coming at all. Not a single symptom. Midwife couldn't do my sweep on Monday because cervix was closed. Apparently it was soft but I've still not lost any plug so I suspect its still closed now.

I only have to sit up for my feet to ridiculously swell. I want to elevate them but the only way to do that is to lie on my back. I don't want to lie on my back because squid has at points gone back to back so I want to do everything I can to keep it forward. Total catch 22.

I just know that I'm going to have to be induced, but my next appointment isn't until next Wednesday when I'll be 41+2. That's the point at which they will book my induction. I can't imagine I'll get an appointment that week and there's a bank holiday in the way which can only make things worse appointment wise. I'm desperate for an August baby so will be gutted if I go into September!

And to top it off a bloody elephant at Chester zoo gave birth before me! Those things gestate for 22 months for crying out loud :wall2:

Ha ha that bit about the elephant made me laugh :) were you due on 17th too? Me too! I really hope they can book an induction for end of next week or weekend as i really don't want it to go into September either. My next MW appt is Monday luckily so hope they'll be able to book me in. I went to the midwife drop in at our children's centre today and she did another sweep which saves me waiting til Monday - I know it's unlikely to work but I think I just wanted to feel like I was trying everything to speed baby up and reduce chance of induction. I also have no symptoms at all so just hoping that we are the lucky ones who go to bed feeling fine, wake up with a few twinges and have baby in arms by mid morning - fingers crossed for that eh :) and who knows there is still plenty of time and just try and think that at most there is now just one week to go! They should be able to induce you over the weekend as I asked midwife about that and she said staffing at the hospital was exactly the same on bank holidays so shouldn't be a problem to get booked in! Do they induce you at 40+12 too? Have you had a sweep yet? X

Sorry just saw the big about couldn't do sweep via cervix was closed - try not to get down about that it doesn't really mean too much as everyone progresses at different rates. I was 1cm on Monday and still 1cm today so clearly not progressing at any great rate - such joys! X

Can I join this overdue club?!
I haven't had a sweep yet, booked in for one on Tuesday. My MW said after my appointment on Tuesday they will book induction for Friday. I've just accepted in my head that I'll be induced in a week. In he comes naturally before that then it's just a bonus. It sounds crazy but I think I've found that acceptance a huge relief. I was doing EVERYTHING to get him out and was so stressed and emotional. Now I'm just enjoying as much rest as I can and feel much better.
But I have to admit, hearing about that elephant made me a little mad!! Stupid elephant!! :D

The elephant came on the news as I was typing that post - just sent me into a rage! Lol

Yes, 17th too! My next appointment was supposed to be Monday but my MW was fully booked so had to make it Wednesday. With her fully booked I panic that things are very busy and I won't be booked in before the end of August. She told me that they like to have baby out by 14 days past due date so the latest should be induction at 40 + 12. I jut wish I had an induction date to work to!

Would be lovely to just go into labour in the middle of the night, I've had a relatively good pregnancy so I'm not prepared for the pain!

Come, all overdue are welcome :) How far will you be when you get induced ml?

I'll be 40+ 10. That's when they induce in my area. I'm just worried as I'll be going to a very popular hospital which closes the maternity unit all the time that they will postpone it... Urgh. Just want him out now x

Don't give up. I was 4 days over due, went out to a pub with my friend and couldn't sleep when I got home. Started having pains but I thought I was constipated. The pains got closer so I went to hospital at 6am and I was fully dialated but waters hadn't gone.

In most of my posts I moaned that I was going be induced and I didn't want to be!

But he surprised me,

So don't give up anything can happen at any time, good luck ladies xx

Don't think like that ml! You will be induced on Friday if you don't go into labour before!

Its funny how the last few weeks have dragged! I just want to know if its a little boy or girl. And what it looks like, how much it will weigh. Does it take after me or OH? And, how will I feel as a mummy, despite the kicking its still not really sunk in for me. I'm actually going to be responsible for a little human being!

Fx for a surprise labour jd, that's how I'd love it to go!

Whinge away ladies, you are well within your rights to feel fed up! I remember when I was overdue with my daughter I was so pissed off and upset and really thought I was just never going to go into labour. Went 9 days over in the end - my induction had already been penciled in for the Monday but luckily I had her the Friday before. Don't give up hope! xx

Ah thanks ladies this all is giving me some hope :) ml I agree with you, accepting it as the last date it can be does make it easier in a way rather than obsessing every day if today is the day. Although I do still have my fingers crossed that it might be :)

Little miss impatient my midwife was booked up
Monday too but has slotted me in before her clinic starts. I think it will be busy but she will be seeing lots of people at all stages of pregnancy so shouldn't have much of an impact on how busy the hospital is...hopefully. Sure it will be fine, if you think about it a lot of women have to be induced at a day or twos notice so they should be able to manage it ok. Can't you ring your midwife on Monday and see what she says - may be able to reassure or if she says it might be a day or too later than request her to book it? If it's trust policy to induce at 40+12 then they should do really

X

Bless you - I can only imagine the frustration of being overdue (and am convinced I'm going to be in your position in 2 weeks time) but that bit about the elephant really made me laugh!!!!
Xxx

I woke up at exactly 41 weeks - rolled over in bed and waters went lol.

Upto that I had no signs of labour - was booked for a sweep that day

You can never tell labour and too many women get hung up on a specific 'date' aka their due date. Pregnancy and birth takes a period of time - it may be 39 weeks or 41 - who knows - the point is don't get too hung up

My friend refused induction at 41+12 and gave birth naturally at 42 weeks exactly :)

That's good of your midwife Becky! I like my midwife but I'm such a push over and don't like to be too pushy! I did kinda say in my last appointment and she just said that the midwives work 24/7 so not to worry about the bank hol. So I shouldn't worry really, would just like to know my induction date!

ML is proof you can suddenly go into labour! So, I know I should just relax! My new tactic is to put myself in situations where it would be awkward to go into labour. Today it was test driving new cars with MIL - would have been hugely embarrassing had my waters broke! But they didn't! Oh well :)

Ha ha that's a good idea. I've instructed hubby to start booking in important meetings at work rather than keeping his diary free like he has done for the last three weeks as figured that's bound to get things going. Went for a really long walk in the countryside too today thinking if I went into labour in the middle of nowhere it would be Sod's law - didn't though, worth a try though :) yep I am reassured by ml being with baby less than 24 hours after having no signs - it WILL happen :) x

Sorry to leave the club ladies!! But yes I hope you take comfort in the fact that it can be anytime!! Although I hope you have a better labour than me!! X

And now the Panda's are beating me.... they don't even mate!

I forgive you for leaving ML, you were ahead of me! Your labour sounded seriously hard going but it was lovely to hear you say it was well worth it so soon after!
