Hey girls,
My mum wanted me to ask you all what type of mattress she should buy for the cotbed her and my step dad are buying me. It's all a bit confusing so I said is ask in here.
Is there a recommended type of mattress? Or does anyone prefer one type over another?

Thanks :)

Erm...I would say it's your own prefference hun - aslong as it's a new clean matteress there should be no problem.

Cotbeds were pretty new when I had my son and the matteress I used was the one that came with it from mothercare - it was a thick(ish) wipe clean matteress that I presume have some sort of foam type stuff in there.

I have only looked at Crib matteresses so far - as I brought a second hand gliding crib and need to get a new matteress - looked on mothercare and I was going to go for a mid range one dunno if that helps.

xx

Oh btw if I am missing something and someone know more about matteress' than I do - please comment!! I am curious now!

Ours was about £140 from The Glasgow Pramcentre online (cheaper than M&P). It was a mixture of layered foam & springs. But because we wanted it to last as a toddler bed, we wanted to make sure it offered enough support when our son was older. It also had a removable cover for spills & accidents. When we buy a new mattress for this little one we'll definitely buy the same one again as it was worth every penny!!!!

Hope this helps?

Try and get the best one you can so it will last for years :) don't forget mattress protectors too. I just went by price really as they seemed to have more to them.

Where is she getting the cotbed from?

Just looked on Glasgow Pram Centre site & the mattress we bought nearly 6 years ago for £140 is now for sale at £82. There is a newer more modern mattress for £140, but we'll be buying one for £82 as it was a brilliant mattress!

Every days a school day! Thanks for the advice ladies! X

I don't know what my one is but it's the most expensive one in mothercare. I know it's meant to be "breathable"

i asked the same question as i was abit confused.

i spoke to someone in mothercare who said the spring mattresses last alot longer. also try and get one with the tempreture control in it.

i have looked and babies r us is sooo much cheaper for pretty much the same ones as mothercare. hope this helps. xxx
