Seeing as everyone else has posted about theres thought i would join in.

I went to have a look around the maternity unit today and it was packed . We were only in the hosiptal about 10 mins as the midwifes were too busy to give the usual tour so just got a quick look at things. They only run the tours once a month but they had to spilt us into 3 groups as there was loads of us. We started are antenatal classes last week to and they were full up too.

All these pregnant woman there must be something in the water in my area.

On the plus side i got to look at the room with the birthing pool as that was free but with all these pregnant woman what are the chances of it being available when im in labour. Oh and another good point was they have one midwife for every woman so you get 100% full attention.

thats good you get a midwife each but the packedness doesnt sound so great :?

When I was in labour with james in hospital there wasn't even a bath or shower free, let alone a birthing pool!

I can't wait to see the midwife unit, got to wait till 36 weeks though :(

That sounds almost identical to the situation in our local hospital - it's random whether you get the birthing pool or not!

Good that you've had a look round. Did you get to hear any screaming?! We could hear the gas and air going when we went round, it scared us all stupid :rotfl:

We haven't been yet. I wanted to go as I will be in a different hospital to last time, but the first one we were supposed to go to me and Jamie were both full of cold and couldn't go, the second one we couldn't make it as we had Jamie's parent's evening and the next one isn't till after my due date and really hoping we won't be able to make that one :D

Still need to book our tour - been there so many times before (visiting and appointments) but i need my DH to know where he is going! Might phone them in a few minutes while it is on my mind x

glad you get your own midwife :D :D :D
where the other women at similar stages of pregnancy??
hopefully not so you dont have to fight for the birthing pool
a statagy to be there first may need to be drawn up and planned

oh and congrats on nearly being a post number 2000

lol sarah
