Thought I'd take a few minutes to write my birth story as I've only given bare minimum details up I now.

It all started on Wednesday 7th September when I noticed about tea time that baby hadn't moved all day. Phone up maternity assessment and went in for a trace which was fine.

The midwife was lovely, on leaving I apologised for being an anxious mummy and she told me to come in any time I'm worried, that's what they were there for.

My famous last words were "no thanks next time I'm here I'm leaving with a baby"

We went home and next morning hubby got up and cycled to work as usual. I woke early and went to the loo.

When I wiped there was fresh red blood, like the start of a period. I phoned MA again and was told to come in.

Went in put on trace everything still fine but baby still wasn't moving much an they were worried that the placenta may be detaching. They then decided to keep me in for monitoring for 24 hrs.

My blood test results came I. To show my blood count was low and I had OC.

Later that night I started getting
Period pains, but thought nothing of them, until 3am an I realised they were keeping me awake, and coming regularly. I felt a bit daft not really knowing if they were contractions or not. So I buzzed for the midwife who gave me 2 paracetamol. She got the doctor to examine me (this is protocol as I wasn't full term apparently). Doctor examined me a mind owns I was 2cm dilated. But they didn't seem concerned.

I got no sleep tht night as the pains just kept getting stronger eventually I started having to breathe through them. I told the mw but she wasn't concerned.

About 7am they died off and I got the sporadically throughout the day. I arranged for my pram to be delivered early just in case and te family rallied to get the nursery finished and bring me stuff to hospital as I never did knish my bag! They also put a baby bag together just in case.

About 4pm they started getting regular again, my FIL came to see me and ended up ribbon my back for me as I was hurting! Lol it was weird but nice at the same time as he was concerned about me.

About 7ish things really kicked off, the pains were getting stronger and more regular, I started timing them on my phone and set up a labour thread on whatsapp for the family.

I told the mw again about them
Getting closer together and lasting longer, she continued to refer to them as tightenings, pains and twinges. They cotinued to get stronger and I asked for more paracetamol as I was exhausted having not slept in 3 days pretty much.

I continued to tell the mw that they wet 8, then 7 the. 6 mins apart

I could t lay in bed anymore the pains were in my back and I had to stay on my feet.

When they got to 4 mins I went to see her and told her she needed to do something, she asked if I would like to see the doctor again, I said yes please.

It took an age to see the doc, it was now about 2am, te family were still up chatting on the whatsapp thread getting very excited. I was adamant that I wasn't in labour and they should all go to bed.

About 4am the doc came to see me and examined me and I was 5cm  and she sai the words "you're in established labour" I replied with "should I phone my husband" who funnily enough was the only one who had gone to bed! I was told yes

It was a mad dash from then. I was told to pack up my belongings and I was pottering about folding things etc when an auxiliary came chucked everything in bin bags and they threw me in a chair and rushed me to the delivery suite! Lol

Got down there and was impressed
With the room at first. My mw was lovely and the first thing she did was introduce me to gas and air. I hadn't do e a birth plan so just blurted out, "can I go in the pool" which I couldnt a and also told her under no circumstances do I want diamorphine, the only pain relief I'll take is an epidural and only if I'm desperate.

Hubby arrived looking shell shocked and stared taking pics of me during contractions and sending them on whatsapp!... He is still alive but only cos I was being constantly monitored and couldn't get to him!

I was able to stand up throughout the labour which was good but the contractions were so painful, g&a was only a distraction and my back was killing me .. Hubby was rubbing it.

At this point I told the mw I was considering an epidural ... She said she would give them a heads up.

After this because I was moving so much they kept losing the trace and slide coded to put a clip on baby's head. While doing this my waters broke. There was so much of it I was thoroughly soaked! But it was like a relief in a weird way.

After this it felt like all hell broke loose in my fandango! There are no words to explain the pressure that I felt, I really needed to push it felt like the world was goin to fall out of my bum! It was now too late for that epidural.

This was the hardest part for me and when I started to feel exhausted and like I couldnt do it anymore. I don't know how long it was before I actually started pushing but Christ its really hard to get that head out! You feel like you are taking one step forward and two steps backwards with each push!

But I did it, I got the head out ... The burning omg! After that one more push and at 0840 on 8th September Aaron David was born into the world weighing 6lb 9oz

Shortly after ... Whilst still spread eagled on the bed, they told me that Aaron had DS without any warning. It came as a complete shock and totally ruined the moment that we were in, we didn't get to enjoy him for even a couple of minutes.

After this I still needed to be stitched up, I had a 2nd degree tear and quite a few grazes. This is the moment I keep going back to, they did the injection and it triggered something in me that made me sob like a baby, they give me the gas and air and the only sound in the room was of me breathing in and out for abou 10 mins. This is the moment that makes my stomach flip everytime I think about it.

We've had quite a rollercoaster since the. But that's all on the other thread

Thanks for reading if you got this far ImageUploadedByTapatalk1348228405.831628.jpg
