Well here we go... It could be a long one!

It all started on the Sunday night - was a teeny bit crampy but thought nothing of it. Shower and bed for me :) woke up at about 4ish with a massive pain (definitely not a BH) fell back to sleep but woke up with another about 10 minutes later. This carried on for an hour (not once did I think these were contractions). So I did a bit of googling - BH stop in the bath apparently so I got into the bath where the tightenings continued coming every 7 minutes lasting 45 seconds. In my head I still wasn't having contractions. Got out the bath about 6.30 ish and text my friend who has a newborn to see if they were contractions - she confirmed they were so cue me calling my mum at 8 with the 'I think it's starting' phone call.

My mum and nan arrived at mine pretty quick - I just spent until 1ish wandering round the living room like a goon - still contracting every 5/6 minutes. Got my mum to ring labour ward who asked about movements - not really felt anything all morning so got called in. Got into triage - left for 2 hours.

Midwife strapped me up to the monitor where if showed I wasn't contracting numbers were only between 4 and 7 - at this point I could have cried. These were proper hurting and contractions hit the 90s! So I moved the pad as it was uncomfy - numbers jumped up into the 70s! Midwife came in and examined me - 3cm and waters were going. She got the doctor to come in and scan me as she couldn't tell if Mollie was head down or breech. Doctor confirmed fully engaged and that she has a boney bum - he wanted me on labour ward and put on the drip to speed things up.

Never did get to go on labour ward on Sunday - got put on the ante-natal ward - still contracting every 10 minutes. Midwife came and examined me - still at 3cm. Had a pretty decent nights sleep even contracting every 20 minutes. Met 2 lovely lasses both waiting to go down so we just sat up bitching away.

Spent all day Monday wandering round the hospital and bouncing like mad - contractions were still every 20 minutes - was getting rather fed up by this point. So it got to 8 at night and asked the midwife to examine me - as she went in, her words were 'WOW' - still at 3cm but cervix was really thin and waters were bulging above Mollie's head - she gave me an almighty sweep and said she will get me down to labour ward before she went off shift at 8am if it kills her!

7am midwife walked in and said they are ready for me on labour ward - called my mum and best friend. Got into labour ward - midwife examined me 4-5cms, she popped my waters on my request and hooked me up to the drip at 8.30am.

Got on the G&A at 9am as things were ramping up by then - well I instantly fell in love with the stuff! My mum turned into a photograph and all I could think about was Pokemon and kept shouting random pokemon names out :) kept singing head shoulders knees and toes. My best friend is also called Danielle but I could only call her by her surname. The best one - I got my ipad out of my bag and paid my bloody gas bill!

Mum went outside the room to update everyone - when I just turned to Danielle and said 'mate I need to push now' cue her running for the midwife and ringing my mum. Midwife walked in and went no she won't need to push she'll need a poo but I'll examine her - well how wrong was she - 10cm and on her way :) the anaesthetist walked in to give me the epidural I was apparently shouting for (I don't remember any of this!) and the midwife went 'too late she's going to push'. I looked at the clock - 12:35 - my words were this child is coming before one. 4 almighty pushes later and Mollie arrived at 12:52 weighing 7lb 1oz. All on 2 paracetamol and G&A - ended up with a 2nd degree tear what needed a couple of stitches.

All in all I thought labour was hilarious - spent the 4 hours laughing my head off, G&A is bloody wonderful stuff and I would do it all again in a heartbeat. And as cliche as it sounds - you do forget it instantly. The 4 hours I was in there seem like it was 10 minutes!

But here's a couple of photos of my gorgeous girl and sorry for rambling on ;)
