Sorry to keep posting questions but as you may have seen if you post in girlie room - I ended up back in hospital a couple of days ago with left over placenta following my section which had given me a bad infection. I had a D&C and on the road to recovering from that.

But, my question is - how soon after a section can I expect to be able to get in and out of bed without pain or pulling sensation? I can walk about fine but it's just getting up that hurts? Hubby wants to call the hospital to make sure that my difficulties getting up are normal after what happened with the infection. I tend to think it is normal ad it was not quite 2 weeks ago - but am I wrong? Should I be able to easily get in and out? I only started lying down properly 3 nights ago, prior to that I slept sitting up.

Appreciate any opinions xx

For me, the recovery after my section was long and horrible.
Sitting up, reaching for baby, getting up and down out of a chair - took weeks before it wasn't painful x

Thanks, I just got myself into a bit of a state as tried to sit up but it hurt I cried out in pain, then it went away, but hubby thinks its not right and wants to phone for advice. Having just got out of that place again - I got a bit upset at the prospect (hormones?!) and he turned to me asked me if it hurt, I said no. He said, well go to sleep then and turned over. Think I'm just feeling a little hurt from that lol. I really need to pull myself together!

The recovery from a c-section is different for everyone. My first section was an emergency and I was in agony for weeks!! My second section was elective and I was up and about after 24 with little pain. I had lots of pull and burning but found if I got up and about a bit I healed quicker. I'm not saying run a marathon because you need lots of rest but if you can get up and just walk round the house or garden for a few mins, it will make you feel a little more human.

You've have probably been told this but with sitting up I found it easier to have a couple of pillows behind my back so I was never completely flat, put my arms behind my back and slowly push up. Once sitting I'd slowly swing my legs out of bed, then stand. Hope that makes sense.

Only advice is drink lots of fruit juice, water eat lots of fresh veg and good food, eat at meal times even if you don't feel like it as all this will help keep you regular. (I didn't do this and found out the hard way, *ahem* titanic poop) If you feel a little blocked speak to your doctor or hv and as for some lactulose (sp?)

The pulling and pain I would say is normal, you've had a major op, but if it's worrying you see someone. Keep on top of you pain killers, take them every 4-6 hours, follow the instructions. I was told take pain relief when it's due rather than wait to feel pain and the take them.

You have done amazing!!! Rest up and enjoy your gorgeous little girl. Big hugs xx

I'm still having pains when sitting and moving around, and trying to bend over to lift Harry out of his moses basket and my op was 15 days ago. Walking around is a lot easier if I haven't stayed still for too long! I have an infection too, but I only had to have antibiotics, which don't seem to have fully cleared the infection so off to the docs on Monday.

Hope u find things easier soon :hugs: xx

Don't worry Frankie, all normal , and that burning pain when moving beyond comfort zone will take a little while. The more you move the easier it should become , but don't overdo it , I walked too fast to school a few days (too long a stride) and it can set you back and you need to then rest up a little more for a couple of days to get back on track.

Moving out of bed etc, chairs, just keep legs together and swivel bottom with knees bent, you can allways put hand on tum to brace yourself, that helps, I did that when coughing for months actually ,became second nature in the end, only my last section was my hardest , but I've had 4 now. I used to not have painkillers and that way I could feel exactly how much I was pushing it..

Yourll suddenly turn the corner, it's not like this forever.. X

I think mine was a couple of weeks. Like jjs mum says it just suddenly comes that your back to normal again.
