Missing period and weird test lines - help!

Hey guys - need some advice. I went off birth control about 5 months ago and my period never came back (wasn't a huge surprise since I never had regular periods before, and I once went about 6 months without one, but then it came back and was semi-regular). Since my husband and I are ttc, after going off the pill, I sporadically took OPK tests and never had a line at all.

I went to the doctor after about 3 months, she did an ultrasound and said that she could see my follicles developing and thought everything was okay, and that it looked like I was in my fertile window and should get a period in about 2 weeks (if I wasn't pregnant). I took an OPK in the next few days and DID get a line for the first time, but not a positive. THEN 2 weeks later, I did get a period - but it was very light and only 2 days.

So, I was hoping after that, my period would come back on a normal schedule and regulate. That was 1.5 months ago, no sign of period.

BUT - the weird thing is that for about 2 weeks, my OPK tests have a dark line - not positive but pretty close. It's all very strange, because they never change levels, but never reach positive or fade.

What do you think it means?

And yes - I have taken a pregnancy test and it's negative.

Hi Sarah. I could be completely wrong as I know very little about it but I have a feeling from posts I've seen on here over the years that PCOS can cause both irregular periods and unreliable opks. Have you been checked for that? If you're not having regular periods you should be checked anyway just to see what's going on. It can take some woman a year to get back to normal after coming off birth control but as you say, this was an issue for you before.

Just an update - I finally got a strong LH surge according to my OPK and then confirmed ovulation with BBT charting. Currently 7DPO! Very relieved that I am ovulating...hopefully this means my cycle is getting back on track and will go back to regular cycles.
