Miscarriage worry

Hi,

Hope someone can reassure me or just tell me about your experiences. According to LMP I'm 6 weeks 5 days pregnant, although cycle has been irregular at times, had a 42 day cycle in January! Docs thought it could be because of borderline under active thyroid so I'm now on 75mg of levothyroxine to sort that out, have been for a couple of months. Anyway I started spotting with brown discharge 5 days ago. Blood test says hcg is 859 which seems low to me and had an early scan yesterday which showed sac only and apparently sonographer dated it at 5 weeks. I'm convinced all this points to miscarriage and have to wait two weeks for follow up scan. Just feel in limbo at the moment as I'm convinced I'll lose baby but obviously clinging on to tiny thread of hope!! Anyone experienced similar? And did anyone have positive outcome? Xxx

I can't speak from experience but I've heard a lot of women on here say that brown blood is usually okay as it's old blood.
I've also been told that seeing only a sac at 5 weeks ish is totally normal.

Maybe if you spot another worry you could go to your GP about it, they could reassure you.

Hi as Cati said I've seen similar situations on here with ladies seeing nothing on their scan and then going back to see development 2 weeks later. Also yes; brown blood is old and common for some in early pregnancy.

If your really anxious you could maybe book a private scan for in between times but I'm not sure if you'll see much more x

Hi cookie, this limbo is awful I know, I've had it in two pregnancies now. The first time it wasn't good news but with this current pregnancy it was and I'm 11wks now. And this time round I had spotting and also bright red blood. Fx you ovulated late and it'll be good news for you x

Thank you for your help and kind words, you are all lovely. Have barely told anyone so I'm struggling to concentrate at work and one of my colleagues is just about to give birth which kinda makes me sad. I'm happy for her but I keep having this feeling that this pregnancy isn't going to last. I'm naturally very anxious anyway! I have spoken to my doctor but he just said well it's not normal but spotting can happen so you're in limbo and you'll either miscarry or it'll be ok! Which I guess is all he can say but just makes me more apprehensive! I'm counting the days till my next scan! Anyone else experienced similar issues? Xx

Longer cycles can mean your actually ovulation was later than you think. The date you get from your LMP is based on 28 day cycles. My early scan put me 8 days behind the date predicted from LMP. I know I ovulated at CD21-22, so that would be right. I had brown blood early on as well over 2 days and all was fine. Fingers crossed for you.
