i have read that your breasts only start producing milk after 3 or 4 days after youve given birth. does the baby not need to eat for 4 days??!!

Hi, your breats produce colostrum for the 1st few days...a clear nutritious liquid for your newborn. Your proper 'milky' milk comes in about day three.

Yes the colostrum is yellowy and thicker than milk and it is really good for the baby. For the first few days you will produce colostrum and there isn't much of it but it is all the baby needs at first and then your milk will come in and trust me you will know about it (make sure you have got plenty of good breast pads with sticky backs as most people leak everywhere at first).

ul get the good stuff for LO first then the proper stuff will come in, i gushed!!! it was awful but at least Jamie was gettin a good feed lol!

Also my breasts were leaking for months before Ellie was actually born as well. So be prepared that that can happen.

Mine were exactly the same...never got big during my pregnancy but 3 days after birth they were huge...i could seriously give Jordan a run for her money....my god did they hurt though.

Yr post really made me laugh. When yr milk comes in u will really know. That is when yr boobs get hard and sore and breast feeding becomes painful. For the first few days i wondered what all the fuss was about!

OMG...I have gone up 4 cups sizes already this pregnancy...They balance on top of my bump, they will be hanging by my waist when milk comes in

yeah u can squeeze out cholostrum when your pregnant, i found it to be fascinating lol...try niot to squirt yourself in the eye though. But my boobs diddn't go big and hard until a few days after birth.

my sis said the same. my nips hurt to squeeze tho, but i do think they are a bit damp sometimes and im sure i can smell milk some nights when im taking my bra off
