How much milk does your 6 month old have? Bottles feeders might be able to answer this easier ;)

According to my hv Finlay should be having 16-20ozs - but he was 16 out of his morning and night bottles. I've dropped the lunchtime one but am giving him about 4-5 at breakfast and dinner

Ella is 8 months and currently has three 5oz bottles and one 9 oz bottle a day - so 24 ozs! She doesn't want to drop or cut down a bottle and she is eating plenty of solids so I'm not worried.

I can't work out your thread! Does your HV think he is having too much or too little?

Evie is 9 months and she has a 7oz bottle in the morning and a 9oz bottle at night. She won't have anymore than that. My HV said it was fine because she is happily gaining weight and I make up the rest of the milk intake by using it in her food...or by yoghurts, cheese etc

Evie likes her food way too much to be bothering with milk!!! :D

Finlay's only recently showing an real interest in food so I'm not so keen on dropping the 2 feeds that she wants me to

You HV probably sees a hundred babies a week...but only YOU know what your baby really wants and needs. Trust your own judgements

When he starts eating more solids he will drop a feed on his own. Evie did...she used to have about 30+ oz per day

I wouldn't drop any feeds, if I was you and we haven't. Since we started weaning Ella dropped her dreamfeed, but she still wants all of her bottles and drains most of them still. She is eating really well and still wants that, I was under the impression that milk is the main source of nutrition until they are a year old, so you should let baby take the lead with regards to the amount of milk they want.

Yeah thats what I thought - I've dropped the lunchtime one as he was just mucking about with it

HV said that if he has too much milk he'll get fat! I can't win with her tbh, first he wasn't putting weight on and now he could get too fat

Like the others said you know him best and he is happy and healthy so stuff her. Becky is still on 4 6-7oz bottles a day and there's no sign they will go in the near future.

Phoebe has 4 bottles made up to 8oz (have to for the gaviscon). Of those, she will drink anything between 4oz - 7oz. In total some days she only has 16oz, other days 24oz!

I asked the nursery nurse today about dropping one as she isn't too interested in her morning one (only has 4oz) and she said you should follow babies lead. So we won't be dropping one any time either

Thanks girls :D

I'll leave the lunchtime one out as he's not bothered about it anyway and would rather pee about  He's drinking water at lunchtime (well sort of)

Not so worried about what she said now
