Reading around here people are having scans at different stages.

I was wondering when you are supposed to get in touch with the midwife. I guess i am just as nervous as anyone else out there and would like some comfort from confirmation that everything is going as planned.

My little guy has had to go through lots of stress already for one so young and i worry.

I also forgot to add that i currently live alone with a house cat and am worried about the whole litter situation.

I went to the doctors when I got bfp, and she refered me to the obs consultant at the hospital of my choice, who assigns a midwife. I didn't actually get to see a midwife until 12 weeks, by which time I was out of my mind with worry, but everything was fine on the scan.

Your first step is to get the refereal from the docs.

Re the cat litter, I would just wear a pair of rubber gloves to do any dealings.

Try not to worry too much - i really regret all the worry in the first 12 weeks - I wich I had enjoyed the excitment a bit more.

Good luck

Andrea

I went to my drs when I was about 5/6 weeks and she told me to make an apt to see the midwife for about 8/9 weeks when I saw the mw at 8 weeks she told me to ring the hospital to arrange my 12 week scan myself.

I went to my doctors when I was just over 4 weeks and haven't heard anything from a midwife yet. I have my 12 week scan in 2 weeks time and have no idea what will happen next. I am asuming that someone will be in touch after this scan for a booking appointment.

I have been to the EPU twice for bleeding and already had 2 emergency scans. Was told everything was fine and had swabs done but have heard nothing from that either and that was a while ago too.

If you are worried or concerned about anything don't hesitate to contact your GP or EPU for advice.

Take Care xx and don't worry I've noticed that everyone seems to be receiving different treatment to.

I phoned my doctors a few days after I did my tests. They took my details and passed them onto the midwife and said that she would call me in the next week or two. The very next day she phoned and just took dates of my last period etc. and told me when my first scan was (26 June) and I have another appointment 7th June for an hour to discuss my family medical history and everything. She got back to me so much quicker than I thought which put my mind at ease a little. In the mean time I think I'm supposed to just wait although I'm really not sure what I can and can't eat or do now.

The other day I was walking along at night, using my mobile phone... and walked straight into an upright post which hit me right in the abdomen. I've been a little worried since as I have a blue bruise there and a bit of tummy cramp but other than that everything feels fine. Silly me! I'm also worried at the fact that the week before I found out I was pregnant I was out at the night club once or twice and drank heavily on those occaisions. Lol...

It really does seem like everyone gets told different things. I did see my GP last week and she said to contact the midwife in 2 weeks time.

Makes me feel better that i am not the only one confused

I went to the GP on Tuesday and she had me fill in some forms which I had to send to the hospital--who in turn will write me a letter when I'm 12-14 wks for my first scan. That will be the first time I'll get to see a midwife--and it's also when they'll be doing all the blood tests too. Apparently here in Essex, we also get a 23 week anomaly scan. They do things so differently in every part of the country! When I was pregnant with my daughter, and living in North Yorkshire, I got to see my midwife at the doctor's office from about 8 weeks onwards...but you had to wait until you were 20 WEEKS for your first and only scan! I only got a second scan because my baby was a bit smaller than her estimated age and I had to come in again 2 weeks later. (By the way, do not freak out if they tell you this too and your EDD is 'put back'--it happens to almost everyone!)

Just wanted to let you know that I received a letter today confirming a booking appointment with my midwife. My appointment is next week and I will be 11 weeks 6 days pregnant. My scan is the following week at 12 weeks 4 days.

Every county is different. I get to see my m/w at 8 weeks to go through my medical history etc. She will then contact the hospital and get me booked in for my 12 week scan. My sister got her first midwife appointment at 11 weeks and she only lives a few miles from me.

I saw a midwife for the first time today. She gave me some paperwork, asked which hospital I wanted to have my baby at and said that the hospital would be contacting me with dates for blood work and a scan. I'm 5w 2d today and she told me to come back and see her in 6 weeks.

well i just fill a form in at my docs and my midwife writes to me at about 12 weeks with an app, last time i was there she rang the hosp there and then and got me booked in, i thought the way it all ran here was wonderful.

i went docs when i thought i may be pregnant as i didnt have pmt so i asked for a test with them. but i didnt have any dates till i went to hosp at 12weeks 3days :)
