Hi all, I've already posted in the ttc section this morn about getting a bfn so knew today was going to be a bad one despite the fab weather outside!!

I'll keep this as short as I can - hubby came down with bad flu like symptoms Tuesday /we'd last week. He is never one to accept sympathy and would rather chew his leg off than take the day off work and see a doc so imagine my surprise when he says to me he's going to see a doc after work last Friday. I'd planned to visit a friend fri night and offered to cancel but he said doc said he was fine and not to worry. Little did I know he was lying not to get me worried :-(

Fri night I come home and he is shivering all over and broke out into a sweat he is hot to the touch but says he feels cold. He said doc said he has the flu but has also acute tonsillitis! He said to my hubby he can either take antibiotics or wait it out as neither makes a difference to the other (???) so hubby decided on taking nothing!

Well all weekend hubby hasn't got better and has now developed a wheeze and a cough along with the flu and tonsillitis. He's not slept or eaten properly since Thursday night because of his throat but he has been taking paracetemol and swigging cough medicine and eating throat sweets all weekend.

Tomorrow we'd booked the day off work luckily as it's our year wedding anniversary so I said I'd ring the docs and try to book him in the morning as he's not got any better. He's flat out REFUSED to go and said if I make the appt he will sit there and not go.

His mum rang and I told her everything (he'd lied to her when he told her he was fine this eve) and she asked to speak to me and said I need to book him the docs appt and I said he won't go!

I'm so annoyed that he won't listen to reason and am going out of my mind that something bad is going to happen if he refuses to see his doc because he's not getting any better and says he feels dizzy now :-(

I don't know what to do :-(

As a long term.sufferer of tonsilitis, your.OH needs to go to the hospital.

If he isn't feeling better and he's wheezing the infection is.spreading and his airway could completely.close.

This happened to me ANC I had to have my tonsils syringed ( they won't remove them for.medical reasons).

Call nHS 24. Don't give him an option.

Call NHS 24, explain he's wheezing, dizzy been ill for ages.

Tell them he's being stubborn but you are very concerned.

Thanks ladies, I've just sat down with him, the wheezing has gone and he seems to have perked up a bit and said he's not dizzy or wheezy anymore he says. Mentioned the NHS line and he laughed and told me I'd get in trouble for wasting their time :-(

He still refuses to go to docs in the morn though. Grrrrr!!!

No, listen, you need to call it. Even if he doesn't know.

If he starts vomiting or anything don't hesitate. The infection can spread to the blood easily with acute tonsilitis xx

Thanks everyone for your advice, just thought I'd update, he woke up this morning as right as rain! He can swallow, he's not wheezing, he's bringing up some phlegm but he looks so much better and even had a big bowl of cereal for breakfast this morn (he never usually has breakfast!)

I'm hoping he's on the road to recovery now xx
