Has anyone used it at all? I got the Calma free with the medela pump, but am debating whether to try it.

We currently use Dr Brown's bottles, so I am a little worried that introducing another type of teat will confuse the baby...although have been told by the HV that mixing bottle brands doesn't affect feeding.

Thanks :)

I used this after the nursing expert advised me to. My baby was then a week old and it took a little bit of persuation because they actually need to suck in order to get the milk out. He used it for about a week exclusively and then I tried breastfeeding again and he just latched on at once, no confusion problem at all. We were really happy with it and bought another 2 and they were all we used afterwards.

The only problem is, it can be confusing or a lot of work for the baby and they mighy have a hard time using it when frustrated or impatient so I'd recommend having a regular teat as backup.

I breastfed number 1 until 10 months, but returned to work very quickly, so the Calma was used every day for one feed. My little girl took to it really well, and had no problem switching between me and the bottle. I changed her to a faster flowing bottle (Tommee Tippee) when she was weaning, mainly because we needed new teats, and wanted to get something cheaper, as she was feeding less by then.

The Calma worked really well for us, a d seemed to cause no confusion for my little one at all. I have already bought new ones for number 2, due in September. Xxx

I'm an exclusive express breast milk bottle feeder: long story short, got thrush really bad so used medela Calma as thought would be able to go back to breast, never happened so she stayed on expressed with the calma and is now 6 months (has never HD formula). I thought it was great when I was doing some feeds of breast some of bottle as no confusion. She took to it easy and it comes out as fast as they need because their sucking controls how quickly they get it. People have commented on how quick she can drain a bottle when she wants to!

I will definitely use them again with other babies x

I tried the Calma but it wasn't great for Vi. The teat is really long and she just gagged on it all the time. We ended up using the Tommee Tippee Closer to Nature ones instead. Definitely give it a try if you've got it anyway though. xxx

Thanks all. Sounds positive :)

I think we are going to try it, and see how the little man gets on.
