I've been thinking about my last period a lot lately and I'm starting to think it wasn't a period at all...

Me and a few friends, including my OH, went to Manchester to watch a band and I had started bleeding that morning, the cramps were normal for me to begin with but started to get worse on the journey down. When we arrived I was in a lot of pain but thought I'd be fine after taking some paracetamol and having food but after about 30mins, we were already in the venue watching the support band, I felt like I was going to pass out from the pain! I stumbled to the loo's and spent the rest of the bands set in there in agony! I was bleeding real heavy and could feel it coming out in waves (sorry tmi) everything kept going black for seconds at a time and I physically couldn't move from the pain for a good half hour!

When I was able to move, I found my OH and asked him to walk me to the car as I was worried I wouldn't make it on my own, I spent the rest of the gig curled up in the car in agony and the pain carried on through the night.

I had no more intensely painful cramps in the days after and I bled for around 3days which is strange in itself because normally I have cramps for the first 3days of my period and I bleed for a good week.

Is it possible that this was a miscarriage that I didn't know I was having? And if it is, what should I do?

It is hard to say hun! It could have been or just a really bad period x

I'm hoping it was MrsMc, really hate the thought that I lost a baby and didn't even know..

It was the 5th April Lauren x

I thought the same might've happened to me. My last period before I got pregnant was absolutely horrible. I was bleeding sooo much, more than I ever had before and the pain... omg it was awful :( I did go to docs about it but she confirmed it was just a 'bad' one. It probably didn't help that it was my first natural period after coming off contraception. Maybe it was just a bad for you too hun x

I wouldn't worry about it now as you will never know. Could have been a bad period, see how they are when you've had baby. My periods were very painful but I hardly bled after coming off the pill was worried I might be infertile or something but I guess my body was just adapting to coming off pill, maybe yours was too.

I haven't been on the pill since '09 so it wouldn't have been anything to do with that, but I have had a cycle that was very similar pain wise but not as much blood and normal cycle length.

I'm trying not to get upset over it as like Sarah said, I will never know, but was worried it may cause complications with this pregnancy or if I had to go get check ups or anything.. will mention it to Midwife on Friday and see what she says about it. I'm just being overly paranoid and silly!

I'm going to stick to thinking of the positives about it. If it was an MC, I would have only been about 3wks and I'm waay past that now, plus they didn't see anything suspicious at the scan and I've not had any infections. Also I'm very lucky to have caught again so quickly if it was. xx

Its understandable to worry if it didnt feel 'normal' to you hun, mine didnt feel normal to me thats why i got it checked. It could just be your pregnancy hormones playing tricks on you... I'm the queen of worrying and being paranoid lol but like you said ya just gotta think of the positives :) x

Hey Danti,
Do you have ur symptoms still and do u have a slight bump, usually at 11 weeks, ppl are starting to show abit?
Hope everything is ok. To ease ur worries, when I had my MC, I was induced at 12 weeks with pessaries as bean had died at 8 weeks I was in the most excruciating pain I can imaginem i had to be rished to hospital, so if u pain was almost bearable, it could be a good sign xx

Hey Gregorysgirl, still have symptoms and a little bump yes, I'm not overly worried about this pregnancy as all was good at the scan and we got to hear Lo's HB at the midwife's on friday. Was just getting myself worked up over something I could do nothing about, thank you though xx

I don't think you should worry hun. I too have thought I've had miscarriages in the past because of bad periods, but like you said, we'll never know.

In fact, years ago I thought I was pregnant. My period was late and I just had a feeling I was preggers. One night I woke up with intense pain and started bleeding extremely heavily. I went to the doctors the next day and the female doctor said to me, "I think if you were having a miscarriage, you'd be in a lot more pain". I was devastated but she also told me that I was probably under stress or something, which can actually make periods worse.

Since then I have had bad periods. In fact my last period was HORRIBLE.
I threw up which was the first in a long time. I was in agonising pain, having to crouch onto the floor and rock back and forth.

Perhaps the periods we get before we find out we're pregnant are always horrible periods? Simply because we won't have a period for the next 9 months  I hear that a period after having a baby is horrid too. Which is understandable seeing as we've not bled for almost a year xxx
