I hope I don't get accused of being conceited here  I know that the health of my baby and how healthy I am physically is far more important than losing weight after the birth, but my mind keeps creeping back to the horrid thought of how I am going to have approximately 2 - 3st to lose after my baby arrives :?

I'm actually terrified at the prospect of it  I intend to breastfeed, so won't be cutting back on my meals at all but I will definately start to try and eat healthier. I have overindulged on the odd occasion during my pregnancy and thought 'Oh it won't matter, I'm pregnant and fat anyway!' But I mean to stop doing that once baby is here.

I guess my question to you all is how easy did/have you found it to lose weight after your baby was born? Did you deliberately cut back or did it just fall of gradually...? Oh, and if it's not too embaressing could you let me know how much you gained during your pregnancy....just so I can have an idea of what you did....

Thanks girlies!

When i weighed myself a couple of weeks after i had ryan i had put on 2 stone 6 pounds since becoming pregnant, ive lost 2 stone 2 pounds so far, But i havent lost any weight for 2 months now so i lost that in around 4 months, I just found i was so busy running around after ryan that when i weighed myself when he was 2 months old i had lost 11 pounds. I wouldnt worry to much you will probably be so busy the weight will just come off, slowly but it will come off with sensible eating. You will be fine. I stuffed myself with cakes and choclate when i was pregnant

i put on 7 and a half stone with Thomas lost just over 4 stone now still got a long way to go but i found the first 3 and a half stone came off really easily
xx

I put on 4 stone and was probably about a stone and a bit overweight before I was pregnant. I lost 2 and a half stone immediately but have unfortunately put it back on with reinforcements. Haven't tried to lose it yet as I've been on holiday but the fun begins tomorrow. As long as you don't get into habit of saying "I was pregnant/breastfeeding/don't have time to eat properly" and eat 3 sensible meals a day you should be fine. You'll be surprised what comes off straight after birth!

I didn't weigh myself until she was 3 months old. We don't have scales but we bought wii fit in August :rotfl: :rotfl: At that point I was 3 stone over my prepregnancy weight. I was housebound for 4 months so that didn't help with the weight. I have no idea how long it will take to lose the weight. If I lose a pound or 2 a week, in other words a healthy amount, I'll be back to 11 stone by her first birthday. I'm breastfeeding but eat rubbish.

I was about 12 stone 7lbs when I got preggo...

Im now 12stone 8lbs  Yeah I was very shocked. I had a c section so unsure if that has anything to do with it, also im overweight and was to start with too... My tummy is a bit pudgier though...

Also booby feeding helps you get your cervix shrink back a bit quicker.

try not to concentrate on it too much now though hon, I plan to go back down to 10stone but need to give myself time to recoporate don't forget you will need to aswell
xx

 Clairey you may be very lucky and surprise yourself you shouldn't threat about it till it happens. Before I got pregnant I was 9 and a half stone....I got sick And went to about 9stone I last weighed myself when I was pregnant and I was around 10 and a half stone and now 2weeks after having her I'm 8 and a half. So thats 2stone gone with out even trying you'll be surprised at how much a baby weighs with all the waters and stuff xxxx

Breastfeeding will help alot with weighloss! I never got weighted during pregnancy, but i was weighed 8weeks after and i was a stone lighter than pre-pregnancy. I think it was down to breastfeeding. Although my choice of contraception put it back on!

I found I lost the weight easily and quickly (imho due to breastfeeding) although there was half a stone that just never seemed to shift. I also had an emergency section which I though would work against me but I don't think it made a difference.

i gained at least 3 or 4 st during my pregnancy i was 11 and a half at full term. i breast-fed and i found it did help the weight come off easily! i lost 2st in 2 weeks without even trying it honestly just fell off. i lost the next 2st over about 8 months by restricting my diet (it didnt affect my milk supply its not true that dieting dries your milk up i had LOADS of milk)

i must admit i did get a bit carried away and lost another stone after that, i was down to 6st 13 in april, i went too far. i am now trying to put some weight back on.

good luck but dont get too obsessed with it u dont wanna end up like me. x

I was surprised how my baby weight came off without any effort (I was expecting to have to exercise to do that). It is true that BF:ing helps.

I have stopped weighing myself as I am currently less than I was before I got pregnant which I find actually a bit worrying as I hope that my low body weight doesn't affect my milk

So don't worry about your weight. You may well be like some of us that it will all come off far more easily than you expected.

Good luck

Hi hun

I weighed myself today and appear to have lost about a stone and a half since the birth  I really haven't done anything although I did find that my appetite is nothing like when I was pregnant.

I bet you'll find you lose the weight without even noticing  Especially as your little girl will keep you really busy :)

I haven't lost any weight for 2 weeks now :( but have definitely toned up a little as my jeans are now baggy but couldn't fit into them immediately ater birth. I've been doing a lot of walking with Connie in her pram.

I've found depression a pertty good way of shifting the weight. I was 8lb 10 (ish) pre-pregnancy and now I'm 8st 6. But unfortunately I still have jelly belly!!!!!!

I weigh 10lb less than pre pregnancy, I would put it down to breastfeeding. I'm still loosing weight weekly, about 1lb a week since the initial big loss. I'm also eating loads. The funny thing is I'd been the same weight for years without changing and only since having LO have I managed to get to a desired weight. I think th BF helped with the belly too as mine has pretty much gone back to normal.

I was worried about getting back to normal after birth too, but to be honest IMO it was one of the either aspects of motherhood.

I was worried about this too as I was overweight before i got pregnant. I put on 3 stone over the 9 months and lost it all within 2/3 weeks! Im breastfeeding so it could be that, im still suprised how quick it came off though! Although still got a jelly belly  and the weight i had before i got pregnant :)

I put on a stone and a half during pregnancy, before I was pregnant I weighed 9 stone 2, I was lucky and within 2 weeks of having her I was down to 8 stone 11, now I'm 9 stone exactly. I didn't try to lose weight it just happened naturally.

With Grace i started at 9st and the day before i had her i weighed a whopping 12st 13lb so basically 4st

I weighed myself less than a week after birth and was 11st so lost 2st basically straight the way, the next 1st and half came off quite easily with BF over the following few months i must say though i struggled to lose the last half a stone until i stopped feeding her around 7months, i have read somewhere than some women struggle to lose the last bit while you are still BF apparently it's your body's natural way of preserving fat stores for milk making :|
Who knows!

Im looking at gaining well this time aswell :| im not worried though i'll have enough running round to do
