Will a waterproof mattress protector be at all effective if my waters break while I am in bed? I'm worried about my mattress, which is only a few months old! I hate stains!

Well I hope they will as I have put one on my bed.

Bought it from Dunelm Mill it was only £4.

My mattress is new too so I will definately be buying a protector for it.

Oh god this never even crossed my mind!! My matress is brand new, as is the bedroom carpet!!

I just kinda figured mine would go on the toilet or whilst i was out and about.

Maybe i should get some plastic covering for the floor and matress lol

I bought one. BUT it was horrible - it made the bed sheet slide about and i kept getting tangled up (mine was from argos), luckily it will come in useful for my homebirth and i can pull it over the sofa! Lol.

If you like your mattress then it is probably worth it! Our whole bed cost £80 inc the mattress and the springs are going so i decided i really dont care! Lol. Carpets and things will be fine as they will dry out easily once washed whereas a mattress wouldn't!

Maybe keep towels by the bed? I've got some as we have a laminate floor and i could see myself slipping in my own waters! Lol.

:D Great question Moss...something that I've been thinking about for the last few days. I think I'll have to go get one as our bed is quite new and was expensive, I'd hate it to get ruined.

ohhh i hope they do work, ive just ordered one!
no way do i wanna fork out for a new mattress!

Altho i have visions that my waters will go in public, like doing the big shop at asda or summat!!!!!!!!!! CRINGGGGEEEEEeeeeeee!!!!

Hi Moss,

I've got a terries one on our bed (got it when I had Rosie as our mattress was new then too but fortunately my waters didn't break in bed last time). I think they're definitely waterproof as I have them on the girls' beds and they been sick, weed on them etc etc and it has never gone through. It's worth investing in a decent one though - the basic plastic ones tend to rip!

we have just had a whole new bedroom, bed and matteress included, but when i bought this up with OH he turned and said " NOOOO way, is he sleeping on a wet the bed sheet" .....lol, men. Looks like he'll be buying a new one then if mine go in bed.

The one I have in mind has the polyurethane on the bottom, but it is covered with quilted fabric just like a really nice, normal mattress cover. I don't know if I could handle sleeping on just the plastic because of the crinkling I imagine happens! It can't hurt to order it and if it doesn't work... Well, I don't know! Ha. I guess I could complain to the store because it is from the same place I got my mattress from.

How much water actually comes out....we've got quite a thick mattress topper on our bed which is washable - do you reckon that would absorb??

Others might be different but my waters broke in bed and it wasn't a gush until I stood up. I had a disposable maternity mat on the bed and even when I went back to bed after I got home from the hospital (went in to be checked and then sent home) it wasn't soaked either.

Hi.

I always had problems with my boys peeing on the bed. I had previously bought waterproof mattress protector but they were not effective. It was only after I got mattress protectors from Raza Razai (try to google it) my mind was at ease. They provide 100% waterproof duvets and mattress protectors.

Highly Recommended for worried parents
