Hi,

Just wondering if anyone has any experience with maternity shape wear? I have an event coming up and a reasonably fitted dress so wanted to see if anyone could make any recommendations if you've tried some?

Many thanks

Xx

No, but knowing how opinionated my baby has been since about 21 weeks to any pressure, I wouldn't even consider it.

I didn't actually know anything existed but I would be cautious about using anything even remotely restrictive around the bump...even if you don't think you have one yet. Xx

I am pretty sure shapewear is advised against.

I've seen actual maternity shapewear that doesn't restrict your bump just smoothes out legs, bum etc etc spanx do one and said. I obviously wouldn't use normal shapewear not that it would fit anyway

Just the idea makes me shudder. I always seemed so hot and uncomfortable when pregnant. I couldn't bear anything restrictive on any part of me but I don't see why you couldn't use something like that if it doesn't bother you.

I wouldn't touch shape ware while pregnant. Any sort of pressure on my bump and he goes crazy. You might be able to wear something that has very light control but me personally I would just embrace my pregnancy curves. I'm a larger lady to start with so live in jeans and baggy t-shirts but now I'm wearing whatever I can to show my bump :)

Totally up to you, I know you're meaning something for the rest of you and not your stomach. You can get maternity Spanx which basically shape everything up but have a cut out bump bit for your stomach so there's no pressure at all on your bump. They are super expensive but if you're really wanting something I'd say they'd be good. Though I've never tried any

I'd probably focus on finding a dress that has many different layers around your belly and tights, this type looks very good on a pregant woman and this is the perfect time of the year for it too.

Sorry no experience of shapewear here x

I know you most probably are still looking for some shape wear and unfortunately I can't advise on that but I also got an event coming up this Saturday (I am going to be a godmother) and my family does not know yet that I am pregnant.

As much as I didn't want to...but I went out and bought a new dress. Long with 2 layers over my belly which just makes it fluffly and flattery so no one will ever notice anything (even though I will tell them the night before anyway) but for the sake of not showing the bump which is still small BUT still showing (makes me just look like I gained alot of weight).

If you are looking for anything like that --->Debenhams do have alot of long nice fluffy dresses (and sooo comfy) at the moment.
