So I read somewhere that it was traditional for the father to buy mum a present after she's given birth....is this a widely known thing?
As in, will my OH know he ought to do this?
Maybe I will start bookmarking shoe websites and dropping hints

I suggested an eternity ring to my OH but think I may get a bunch of flowers instead lol x

I was going to say eternity ring - my Dad bought my Mum when when my brother was born.

I'm not a fan of rings though!

eternity ring is a fab idea, I would like an engagement please though Mr Stork

I would like an eternity ring, but then I think I should have got one on our 1st wedding anniversary. Isn't the tradition 1st year or marriage or 1st child?

Hehe I said no to the proposal and still got the ring so I got lucky there :) Could do with some matching earrings though...

yeah bring on the diamonds, not bothered if he doesn't want to propose though

hmm i did get new dress for coming out of hospital in and trainers to wear for when my cast came off of my ankle!!! I'm already engaged to FOB and was planning to book our wedding when i found out i was pregnant so that has been put on hold..........for now!!!

I want an eternity ring, and have told him. Whether it's got through or not I don't know!

I have told hubby I want an eternity ring too :-)

my sister got me a tiffany bangle as she was god mother lol and my mum got me loooadsaa goodies perfume flowers etc and oh said he gave me the child that was a good enuf pressie lmao!! my best friend also said she wasnt buying my baby anythin as she would get plenty (altho since has bought her loads) and gave me a £50 voucher for Boots to treat myself to new make up and tan etc :) xx

I got a balloon from my mum

FOB didn't get me anything, bunch of flowers would have been nice though. I didnt think of it at the time though, and it only just occured to me he didnt get me anything, so guess it couldnt of been that much of a big deal.

in all fairness I was the one who told my hubby I wanted a present! any excuse :-)

i got a me to you teddy (i love me to you) saying its a boy :)

Oohh!! I'm loving this tradition! Will have to drop some hints to dear hubby!

We call this a 'pushing present' in my family!

Husband bought me a watch.

My mum is dead set that 'Dad' should buy baby the first teddy bear. I think it's just cos her Dad bought her first - anyone else heard of this? My mum's a bit mad, lol!

Oh where have I been - I hadn't heard of this!! I feel hard done by now, on number 4 and no goodies from OH! I am def doing something wrong.

Mind you I can't be too greedy - he did want to stop at 2 kids, so I did get something really - my own way!

Jenni - One of my mates always buys the first baby toy/teddy for hosp cot! ( this time I have brought it already myself and it's coming by santa stocking !, it will be nice for the kids to bring it in for Devon).

Lol JJ, you'll have to ask for back payments!

Apparently the grandparents are supposed to buy the pram...but no-one told me this so we just bought ours when there was an offer on. My dad was a bit miffed he didn't get to do it but he does so much for me already I think I would've felt too guilty letting him pay for more stuff!
