Maternity pay worry!!!!!!!!!!

I am nearly 8 weeks pregnant and started my new job 1 week ago I dont this I qualify for SMP and just left with MA, I have a mortgage to pay for and all the bills and am not sure whether MA will help out enough does anybody know how much MA is and how long you get paid for???/

As far as I am aware its the same amout as SMP £117 I get p/w but its only paid for 6months instead of 9months as SMP is.

Works out to 500quid a month after tax etc. Not enough to pay my mortgage and bills etc...

My friend got MA for 9 months

MA is £117.18 a week and you can get it for 39weeks.

Hiya,

If i were you i would contact your mortgage company and ask for a holiday break from your payments. Most companies let you off the mortgage for about 6 months and put it on the end. You will pay more in the long run but will get you through. I will be doing this is i get stuck!

Yes thats another good point, depending on how long you have had your mortgage, I guess its quite new from your PM!!

But by the time LO is here, u will have had it long enuff to hopefully get them to let you have a few months break.
