Simple question i hope :?

Are todays 'thinner' pads (e.g. nightimes) ok for using after giving birth or is it still better to buy the proper maternity pads ?

Thanks.

I just used the night time pads and they did fine, i never tried maternity pads though so couldnt really compare them.

Hmm, I don't know although to be honest those maternity pads are mightly comfy to sit on when you're in that state- they do cushion your bits a bit. I actually had to use two maternity pads kind of overlapping half way if you see what I mean for the first few days. The modern ones are also quite plasticy so perhaps the wadding ones are a bit more comfy/airy for that reason? I don't know really! I think I swapped to the modern thin ones after a few days though.

I was the same! I had to use 2 overlapping for the first few days! I found the maternity pads more comfortable as I had some stiches but after about 2 weeks I went onto the thin ones and they were fine.

I used maternity pads for the first night post section as the MW kept checking my loss ( so they put a pad there with no pants on... nice!)

But when I was up and about I used the Always ultra night time ones and it was fine..

I used the kotex thick pads they were really good and i'd recomend them to anyone, but I did lose loads and loads of blood they come in the black packaging for night time and the white for day time. Then I started to use the always night time in the purply blue packet and then just normal ones after that. The mats that you can buy for when your waters break, the same ones they put under u in labour are good too...they were a godsend, i'd put them under me at night to sleep so my bed diddnt get covered...OH had to sleep there too lol.

I had an episiotomy so it was big thick matresses all the way!

I used a mix of Boots own maternity pads and Kotex but you may find the chunkier the pad, the more comfy it is on your bruised bits :D

kotex for me too lol, they had them on special offer!!! :rotfl: :rotfl:

I agree Minxy, if you end up having stitches the big thick muvva maternity pads are a godsend!!!!

i had a section, not sure if you bleed less than a vaginal birth but i needed the maternity pads, my loss was quite a bit. after about a week i went to the always nighttime pads and now i'm in the normal always maternity pads.

Whatever you get I would suggest getting something with wings as the ones without tend to leak a lot especially at night.

I had a section too but found the maternity pads awful. They are just so big and you do need wings.
I used Always Ultra nightime and they were great.

I used Night time ones for the second week but used Maternity pads for the first as i found i was really quite heavy

the boots maternity pads are £3 for 5. when would you start using them?

are these the same ones you use for after?

i was given a maternity pad when my waters broke and was walking like i had shat myself :rotfl:

when i had finley i just used the thin night time pads, but the extra long ones with wings, and i didnt really leak that much onto my knickers
