Maternity Grant

Hi,

Does anyone know whether I would qualify for a Maternity Grant if I applied.

All I receive is £10.42 a week Child Tax Credit.

I just wondered if it would be worth me applying for one?

i think that may be too little, but it wont hurt applying, you never know, or wait till youve had the baby and apply again as your tax credits will increase

That's a good idea thanks. I think I will wait til I have baby then maybe apply.

I'm sure we probably won't qualify but I wondered if it would be worth a try.

theres a website called entitled to.. if u enter all your details inc the new baby (but pretend it was born yesterday) it will tell you roughly how much tax credits your entitled to, worth a go

I have just given it a go and it said right at the end we may qualify for a Sure Start maternity grant.

i couldnt get it but i reapplied after having jayde and got it

hehe i think they should make people more aware they may have more chance after baby is born, i only know as my mate was told she cant have it, but then tried after the birth and got it.

I'm going to wait until after the baby is born and then try for definite.
I don't expect to qualify to be honest but it's worth a try esp after looking on the entitled to website
