Hi ladies, hope everyone is ok.

Just wanna ask - How long does the job centre normally take to reply after you have returned the maternity allowance form? I'm a bit worried because I sent it on time and next week is my last week at work and still no reply, i still don't know how much i will get paid exactly etc...

Thanks! sorry if i don't reply, i use the net at my mum's

Maternity Allowance can take ages!! I was on maternity leave for 5 weeks before I got a penny, the bonus I suppose is you get all the back log in a lump sum!

dont think mine took too long to get through.

i just dunno when to return to work lol

just loving getting paid with mat and not having to work for it except looking after your baby.

:cheer:

Hi Leatitia,

I'm self employed so qualify for the maximum which is £112.75 per week for 39 weeks. (This may be lower of you're qualifying for MA instead of SMP. Didn't pay attention to those details)

I phoned the Jobcentre Plus the day I turned 26 weeks as they won't issue the form (MA1) until then. Filled it in and returned it the next day. Got a letter about 1 week later confirming what I'm entitled to, with a reply slip for me to return the day I actually stop work (at 29 weeks).

Am so far very hopeful they will be prompt at starting the payments, but we'll have to wait and see. At least they'll all be there, even if a little late.

Good luck!

Ladybird xx

I finally received my SMP 1 & MAT B1 form backs from the council after about 3 weeks so can't answer your question. Will drop the forms into the Jobcentre + place later so hopefully will get it back quickly - only got about 4 weeks left of work!
