Hi All,

Have woken this morning with all the symptoms of mastitis. Feel awful! Just waiting emergency Dr's appointment to confirm it, and assume if they do they will prescribe antibiotics.

Can anyone reassure me about there use while breastfeeding - I know th Docs will say it's fine, but just wondered if it will affect Sam in any way?

Thanks

Lisa

yes there fine ,

tips for it tho , get in shower , and massge down along the duct with the warm water on it , get out and get bubba to feed straight away

i got it at night , on a weekend and this is what NHS direct told me to do untill i could get to drs the next day for pills , by then my temp was up to 102

It may give him a slight dodgy stomach (the anti-bs) and can also slow down the supply in the boob that is infected (that's what I found anyway) so don't despair if he's a bit feedy.

Hope you feel better soon, Mastitis is awful :(

Thanks Ladies.

Dr. confrimed it is mastitiis in both boobs. Starting on the antibiotics now.
Lisa x

Poor you, Mastitis is so bloody painful!

The antibiotics normally clear it quite quickly.

Hope you are better soon

ouch, mastitis is nasty. I second what everyone else said.I used toput a hot water bottle o the affected area just before feeding, helped to get the milk flowing. Also watch out for thrush as anti b's can trigger this. Hopeyou feel better soon x

only thing antibiotics did with lil miss was make her a little unsettled. But she was fine.... once I started the antibiotics I was better in 48 hours... but omg did I feel rough as anything :( you have to keep feeding though from both breasts as much as possible... if you don't it will get worse. :(
