So eventually once LO sleeps through he will go into the bedroom with his older brother. Now, I am finding it difficult to find single quilt covers and then a matching size in cot quilt size!

I Was thinking of getting a single sized cover, getting the sewing machine out & having a bash at making my own cover as I will want them to have matching beds!

Does anybody have any tips? x

Ive saved a selection of my LOs clothes from when she was a newborn and 0-3 and Im going to cut them into squares and sew them together with a fleece backing to make a throw.

If it was just a quilt cover I guess its just a case of finding a fabric you'd like and cutting it to the right size. Maybe decorate with some big buttons sewn on with a big thick thread (just for added security to stay on).

Ive brought a junior bed cover and Ill be buying the actualy quilt from tesco. I think a single quilt might be quite large in the cot as I lay the junior cover in the cot and it was a good size. The single might swap in a bit.

apparently theyre really easy to make, my mums offered to do it, if I buy loads of fabric, she'll make curtains, duvet covers and I want her to have a go at a cover for a beanbag chair so he can have a reading corner. If theres left over i want some bunting

Im so demanding arent I

But yeah she tells me the duvet covers are super easy to make. :yay:

Thanks for your replies! :) I'd assume a cover is easy to make from a single quilt cover! I was hoping it was just cutting the sides to the quilt size & stitching up again & replacing the buttons! Can't be rocket science

that's exactly what i've done with loads of things! poppers are easier than buttons as you don't have to make button holes! and remember to cut about and inch extra for the hem and you always need it to be a bit bigger than the duvet itself so you can get it in ok! best of luck x

you could save a lot of money by just buying fabric instead of an actual duvet cover.

Not here in Germany, things like that are ridiculous as all the Germans make they're own curtains & things! They're very old fashioned too!

I thought a single cover as then Harvey & the baby can then have matching bed spreads! :)

ah okay, I missed that youre in germany.

it will be lovely to have matching beds for them :cloud9:
