thats brought tears to my eyes, its so hard as I underdstand wat you mean, they become part of the family, but if you know in your heart this is the best thing for him then dont feel guilty

Big hugs hun its very difficult but you can see that he is not having a very good quality of life the way he is and isn't likely to improve so you know its the right thing to do, he would thank you for it! even when you know its for the best its still very hard, my cat had to be put to sleep last year and it was because she had a broken leg..she had an op to fix it but she was old so it didnt heal and they said it wouldnt so it was best to put her to sleep and out of pain the hardest thing was knowing she ad a broken leg not a tumour or some illness i mean a human would never die of a broken leg..we just couldnt see why but she would have been in pain all the time and wouldnt have survived the op for amputation.

Sorry to have rumbled on about my cat it just got me thinking about her, i hope you are ok hun..are you going to bury him in your garden? we did that so we could visit her all the time..it helped a bit i think!

this prob aint much help, but we had a very speical cat put down a few yrs ago, but dreaded the thought of buryin her in the garden incase she ever got accidntly undug, so we left her with the vets and jsut brought home her collar and some fur and put it in a small jar and put that in the garden with a lil stone to remeber her by

You've done what you can so don't feel guilty. It's no quality of life for a cat to be cooped up in a cage.

aww jo thats just made me cry and admittedly made me stroke my cat rosie who is the same age as mickey. Im so sorry hun your having to put him down but he could be like this for the rest of his life and hes so young still he could have years of it Hes not having a good quality of life though bless him and your doing it in his best interets.

I know what you mean though and id be gutted if anything happened to my girls, there like my kids

Oh no.. that must be horrible for you. I am a bit teary after reading that.
It's only natural to feel guilty but our pets depend on us to make the right decisions for them, even if it's not easy, and by the sounds of it you are making the right decision.

The vets could get him cremated for you, and you could get a little box back with his name on it, which you could keep or bury in the future because of the snow right now.

awwwww is so hard. we had to have our cat but down last year and it is so tough. however hard it is, you do know when its the right thing to do and is kinder to do than watch him suffer
