So it's quite a quick one compared to my daughter lol
After having tightenings, pains & generally uncomfortableness for a couple of weeks it either side of due date and what appeared to be a false start on Thursday 8th May I had resigned myself to the fact I would need to be induced to get this lazy bum out
I had woken with pains at 3am on Thursday but they had all died off completely by 11am and as i had a difficult early labour with my daughter I wasn't sure what should have been happening!
I arranged for my 2 yr old to go stay with granny & grandad on the Friday night as I was booked in for induction at 8am Saturday morning. After I re packed my hospital bag thinking I'd be in for the weekend & then ordered Chinese and settled down with a movie on our child free night.
By 9pm I started having pains every 10mins or so but the most painfully thing about the was that they were in my back but just put it down to the possibility he was back to back as mentioned at last midwife appointment @ 41wks. I decided to have a shower and take a couple of paracetamol around 10pm and head to bed thinking it would all stop again but at least maybe something would have been happening to make induction smoother & quicker
By 12pm hubby asked if it would be tonight and decided to have a shower and get changed 'just in case' we didn't get much sleep. After all the issues with my daughter we were both abit scared to want to go to hospital incase we were repeatedly sent home as nothing was happening
We made a call at 1:38am to speak to hospital as I was really struggling but honestly didn't think much was happening
20 painful minutes later we're at the hospital who gave me a quick check to reveal I was 7cm and ready for delivery. Rushed through and not enough time to get bags from the car or even get checked over properly
Luke was born at 4
2am which took me by surprise as I honestly though I had hours of pain still ahead of me, I can remember screaming my head off saying I couldn't continue as I thought my midwife was actually lying when she was saying he'll be here very soon lol
The worst bit for me was the head but because I really didn't want to push and was trying to hold him in. The relief I felt when pushing was taken over my excruciating pain in my tummy. Totally not what I expected and my brain couldn't cope with the two feelings at once
My placenta got stuck and after an hour I was told it was last attempt by a dr before going to theatre, I got high as a kite on gas & air and had the most unbelievable horrific, painful and forceful examination/procedure to remove the placenta. All I thought of was getting home to my daughter and not staying in hospital for too long. Luckily it all came away and after a fair few stitches I was patched up and asking to go home.
Managed to bf Luke a few times so far but will see how it goes, 2nd time round I'm not crucifying myself over the whole bf/ff and letting HV get to me. We were home by 11:30 to catch a bit of sleep before the grandparents & big sister decended to meet the new addition
