Hey Girls,

I am 19 weeks on Monday and I am currently sitting in my office in work and got up to go and make some teas and I suffered a severe pain in my lower abdomin, the right hand side?! I had to sit back down again? It was really uncomfortable and lasted for about 2 mins before it started to fade - is this normal? Have any of you had anything similar?

I am now really worried as heading off on holiday on Sunday - should I book in to see my midwife before I go?

Would love to hear from you girls for some security xx

I still get sharp pains and aches, they normally fade after afew seconds though and normally caused by getting up too quick or sneezing! Could you of got up too quick? Hope it settles and have a lovely holiday x x

I thought that - maybe I got up too quick??

I feel so silly - working with mainly men, I had to run out to one of the ladies in another department and had a cry!!

I feel better now but I cannot believe how scared I get at anything different! This was extremely painful though... and really deep, its started to fade now. x

I get these if im laughing, or getting up to fast, twisting in a funny way, As Laceys Mom said, they fade pretty quick, You just have to be concious of how you are using your abs!

With my first son i got up quick from the dining chair after eating food and i had a really really sharp pain low down on my side....it hurt like hell and took my breath away. I didn't have it again so didn't ask my midwife at the time about it. But he was obviously ok cos he's now 13 yrs old lol I think i just put it down to ligament pain cos i got up too quick?

If your concerned though, i'd check it out before you go.

Enjoy your hols, wish i was going back!

Sounds like round ligament pain to me. I've had one or two of these and they're quite shocking!

Enjoy your holiday :)

I had a reocurring pain in my right side at around 20 weeks and it was so painful at times i couldnt stand straight! One time it was so bad i ended up in hospital, turns out i had bruised muscleskelotal ligaments and was told to be on strict bedrest.

I've slowed down lately and i havent had them for a few weeks now :)

Maybe just take it easy for a bit (if ya can of course) xxxx

I've had these pains quite often, if I turn in a wrong way, sneeze or cough hard or just get up too quickly.
I was told it's because the ligaments are stretching, they are much softer and so it's much easier for us to feel pain.
I wouldn't be too worried, but if you're really worried, I suggest calling your midwife, if only to reassure yourself. :)

I get that if I cough or sneeze too hard, or if I flip over in my sleep withough thinking about it. The pain wakes me up, lol.

Xxxx

take it easy doesnt sound serious, ligaments stretching and when u in a position baby adjusts to it so if u stand up to quick etc it startles baby from its comfortable position and cause pain, with my 1st pregnancy every pain was scary midwife always told me if pain doesnt go away by either paracetamol, rest and a bath (or all 3) then u start to worry.

if i were u i wouldnt worry its normal, but id even ring midwife just to hear it from her so u can relax on hols, otherwise if u feel anymore u will freak out and cant go see her, will put ur mind at rest.

have a good hols xxx

Really really pleased you brought this up, been meaning to msg about it. When I move in bed sometimes or get up, laugh, cough or sneeze I sometimes get a very sharp stabbing pain, anymore in my tummy but usually the sides but it does only last for a few seconds. Been quite worried about it, but is it completley normal then? x
