Hi girls, just thought I'd ask a bit of advice. Just been for my 20 week scan (21weeks by dating scan and 22 weeks by scan today) and they have said placenta is low and posterior. I have to go back in 2 weeks for rescan and internal examination. I have asked them about likelihood of it moving up and all being well, my history taken into account (ds born at 32 weeks pre eclampsia and iugr) they aren't taking any chances and will deliver early by c section again if they think it poses a risk to me or bubs. Just wondered if anyone here has had a prem baby first time round then experienced this but placenta has behaved and moved up or if another c section was the option? Obviously healthy baby is all that matters, I'd prefer to give it a go naturally but if c section is what they recommend I'll have to grin and bear it. Any experiences good or bad please could you share? Many thanks xx

Hi there, I've not been pregnant before but my placenta is in the same place as yours and I am going back for a scan in 2 weeks to check whether or notbit had moved away from the birth canal enough for a natural birth.

Thanks Annie :) see you are much further on than I, fingers crossed placenta plays nicely and bubs is safe and well x

Like Annie, this is my first too, but my placenta is in same position. The lady told me at 20 week scan that it will almost definatly move up as the pregnancy progresses and that very few placentas stay that low. I have to be rescanned at 34 weeks, but not too worried as it moving up seemed like such a genuine posibility. Really hope yours moves too - must be worrying for you after problems in your last pregnancy! xx

Hi i was told at my 20 week scan also my placenta is lying low but will more than likely will move I have to wait to my 30 week scan to see. My first son was born at 32 weeks last time and a low lying placenta was never named then. I read the interet when I came home and scared the life out of myself now I am just getting on with it and will wait to see what will happen x
