Had a call from my midwife to say my platelet count has been getting lower with each blood test. I'm currently 36 weeks and see my midwife next week when I'll probably get more bloods taken. I'm really hoping to request a social induction... just wondering if anyone has any experience of low platelets and induction?! Is it better to not be induced?

I'm not sure I'm afraid - I had low platelets as part of pre eclampsia, so I was induced fairly urgently via the drip. Mine dropped suddenly rather than gradually like yours. The main issue I had with low platelets is that I couldn't have had an epidural. I was fine without it, but I was insanely close to having an emergency c section, and I would have had to have a general, rather than a local because of the low platelets. Just because of my experience, if they recommended induction, I would take it - hopefully they will give you more detail next week x

Hmmm, have just looked at the blood results in my notes and they went up... they must have gone down at the last one but my midwife still has those results. It's frustrating cos I'm having the baby in a completely different county so need to be referred to different midwives from 38 weeks. Hate not having any kind of plan or idea!
