Low iron

Hi everyone
I am just past 35 weeks pregnant with my first baby. About 3 weeks ago I had my bloods repeated as my iron was down as being low, a week later I received a letter from my hospital saying I needed to go for iron studies. That was last Thursday and ive just been for my whooping cough vaccine and asked if my results were in the system, the nurse said they were down at 6.
I have my midwife visit this week so I can find out more info but is it level low?

Thanks x

I think anything below 11 is classed as "low" but it does also depend on the stage of your pregnancy I think. Your midwife will be able to tell you more at your appointment - dried apricots and green leafy veg are good iron rich foods in the meantime xx

Mine were down to 11.5 after being really good when I was tested previously. Do you take a vitamin supplement? I didn't and went off meat in pregnancy. Mine wasn't low enough to have further tests or iron tablets but she said taking a supplement might help. I haven't taken a supplement but have big time increased veg like broccoli and had a few steaks to. In my notes it says under 10.5 is low

I've also had really bad acid reflux so have taken a lot of gaviscon and rennies which I have since been told can reduce iron absorption which I do think may have influenced my iron levels as have been taking a lot. I'm trying my best to cut down but then unfortunately the reflux gets bad, it's a vicious cycle.

Sorry I'm babbling and probably not helping you but just wanted to share my experience
