Advice please!
Has anyone used this hair dye during their pregnancy? I'm still in the first trimester and dont want to do it if it's dangerous for the baby? I was thinking about using this dye as it's semi-permanent and ammonia free?
Xx

There's still alot of chemicals in it, the reason they suggest you shouldn't is really because these chemicals have not been tested in a pregnancy situation , who would do that right? it may not harm baby at all but it may not work as it should either. I have used hair dye in tri 2 before and I didn't have any problems and baby was fine but that was my experiance. It really is personal choice I'm afraid. xx

Thanks Katey, I Defiantly wait til tri 2 and decide then I know people who have dyed their hair and everythings been fine, so I'll just have to make the decision myself

I dyed my hair at the very end of tri 2.
I bought a loreal mousse blonde dye, and I'm now brunette lmao!
I would advise against it in tri 1 though x

I've coloured my hair for years. I checked with my Midwife at my book-in if it's safe to carry on colouring it, she said it's fine as long as I don't drink it!! I did wait until 12 weeks though.

One thing I have noticed is that my hair is a lot dryer in general and colouring is making it a bit worse, i'm using a deep conditioner every other day now.

defo not in tri 1 i waited til i was 16 weeks to dye my hair for first time in pregnancy but have been doing it every 6-8 weeks since x

I waited until tri 2 as well, think I was about 20 weeks before I died my hair.. And I used Garnier Herbashine, a semi-permanent one which was ammonia free and you only had to leave it on 10 mins xx

I waited until I was 14 weeks pregnant before I coloured mine. There's no research that proves it's harmful to the baby. They do say your hair may react differently and to try a test patch first, I didn't do this and mine was fine. Make sure you have windows open to avoid inhaling the fumes. x

The resin it's not recommended in tri 1 is because with a home box colour you will be putting it into contact with your scalp and it can go into your blood stream, it's commended if you are colouring in tri 1 just to do highlights in foils so no scalp contact. But you also cannot guarantee you will get the result you want with hormone changes etc. xx

If it was for this reason alone, it wouldnt be recommened at all during pregnancy.

Its safe, but you cant guarantee what colour it will go due to hormones. ALWAYS do a patch test!!!! You dont wanna end up like the elephant man!

i dye my hair every 4 weeks did with first and am with second it doesnt harm the baby as long as you use a decent brand that you no you havent got or had a reaction too x x x

I've been putting off dying my hair. Now I'm in second tri I'm going to grab a box and get it done.

I had my hair done throughout my first pregnancy at the hairdressers but decided this time as I was doing it at home just to wait. x

I died my hair before BFP, and have done so every 4 weeks since. I asked the midwives and she said it was fine. I only use semi perm too. But sure it's ok. However, my hair feels a bit different-it's fluffy! Not used to having hair which doesn't do what I say! Xx
