Hi everybody I was wondering if you could all give an idea of the kind of routines you had for a 6 week old? For eg when is their last nap? How long do they nap for? How long between naps etc... Timings of naps? Atm my son is in no routine at all, his naps are all over the place as is bedtime and I am wanting to try to encourage at least a loose routine with him!

We started a 7pm bedtime when he would go upstairs into his carry cot in our room, and we would go up to him rather than keeping him downstairs till we went to bed. We have a sensor monitor for peace of mind when he is up there asleep on his own.
Naps/feeds were entirely baby led though and is still the case at 12 weeks. It works for us and he sleeps well at night, just waking once (apart from at the moment as he has a rotten cold!)

God I had no routine at that age. Well done to mums who do! I think at about 10 weeks my daughter settled into her own routine of waking up at 6.30, napping at 7.30 for 30 mins, napping at 10.30 for 30mins, same at 1.30 and 5.30. Bedtime was pretty varied and at that point she was up twice during the night. Over time she's dropped down to 3 naps but she's still a terrible night sleeper

We didn't have any routine then but our little girl is 13 weeks now and has settled into her own routine. She has her last feed around 9ish and is in bed for 10ish. She then wakes any times between 6-8. She then eats and sleeps on demand through the day.

My LO is 15 Weeks and only over the last few weeks has he settled into his own routine. Eats/sleeps when he wants during the day but mostly feeds between 7am-8am, 12pm-1pm, 3-4pm. Bath is between 5.30 and 6pm then bottle. goes to bed no later than 6.30 pm as gets really grumpy and that's him until 6.30-7 the next morning. He only naps maybe twice a day for 30 mins at a time. If I'm out and about may sleep longer. He fell into this by himself xx

When should I be putting him to bed? He's so upset from about 5pm onwards but refuses to nap

I didn't really follow a routine with my youngest as it just wouldn't work but the thing I really followed was not letting her go longer that 1hr30 without a nap as she'd get over tired and would just cry. So for example if she woke at 7 I would make her nap at 9.30-whenever she woke, I'd always try for at least an hour so she'd wake at 10.30 for example. The next nap at 12 then I'd try and get her to nap for 2hrs so she'd wake at 2.30. Then nap at 4 for an hour. That brought us to 5pm and it would help with that horrible witching hour where all they seem to do is cry and whinge. Then bath at 6.30 and asleep by 7.
That was obviously on a good day however so long as she napped no longer after 90 mins of awake time, especially in the afternoon then it made things that little bit more easy.x

From 6 week I followed no naps after 5pm, bedtime routine at same time every night 6pm for us... Bath, bottle then cuddle and bed. My LO does his own thing in the day regarding naps but he used to feed every 3 hours at 6 week, now it's every 4 hours, I adjust the times if he's napping through a feed time, I never wake him up! It worked for us, he sleeps throhgh most nights from his dream feed at 10pm, he's currently starting to drop that feed now at 12 week old xxx
