I will be stopping breastfeeding any day....

I wanted to stop a while ago but then resigned myself to carrying on because Oz wouldn't take a bottle, except twice in the last 3/4 months from OH in the night when I'm asleep and lots of chasing from OH to get him to take it...

But he's cut his 2 bottom teeth and he keeps biting me alllllll the time. I woke up at 5am when he latched on (we co-sleep) and he bit me, for no reason, twice. Then he did it again when i tried to feed him after his bath, and again when I tried to feed him after his toast.

I don't know why he keeps doing it, he's done it quite a few times this week and i thought it was either coz he didn't really want to feed or because it's been when he's tired, but now he just seems to do it, maybe because he's playing with his teeth? I don't know, but OMG it's like razors slicing my nipple.

If he still keeps doing it today he's going cold turkey tomorrow and on the bottle!!

Isla bites as well and she's got top and bottom teeth now! She only does it when she's really alert, not when she's hungry or sleepy, so it's not often she does it. I too have been trying bottles and on Wednesday she took two ounces I was very pleased!

I waited a bit longer inbetween feeds this morning to make sure he was really hungry and he still bit me, not as hard at all but OWWW!! He only did it when he first latched on then once he got feeding he didn't do it again and then on the next feed he didn't bite at all.

But now I'm so tense waiting to be bitten it's awful.

Really don't want to go to bottles as formula is so expensive and I know I will never express enough to feed him as I always had trouble getting much out with a pump.

Will just see how it goes over the next few days I guess!!

God, I'm dreading top teeth too I'm gonna be nippleless soon lol xxxx

I just bought Isla some baby juice from boots, in a carton so its got a straw and she did amazingly with it! i've got a straw beaker i might really push her to try and see if she will take milk/juice that way. If hes still not happy with a bottle that might be a solution for you xx

i couldnt bear the crying! I tried to stop breastfeeding a few times but shes not having any of it. I feel proud of myself for getting to 8 months but Im scared of peoples reactions if i carry on doing it beyond a year. Especially work as they are sorting me a room to pump etc xxx

OMG a few ppl have said to me 'well you can't do it any longer than 6 months because it gets weird' WTF that's my baby, WTF is going through these ppls minds? They're the ones with a problem imo!!

Well last night he bit me about 4-5 times really hard, it reduced me to tears. This morning he has fed and I had to say 'gently' about 3 times as he had his 'bite' look in his eyes so I think he will be on the bottle soon, unless he suddenly stops. But after reading wannabepreggers thread I'm wondering if actually this is his way of saying 'no more boobies'?!

Time will tell, will be sad but I think once I've actually stopped I'll be relieved in way, I think it's just that initial transition I'm finding hard!

Meant to say you defo should be proud for doing 8 months.

I don't think anybody can be prepared for how challenging BFing is, even for those that hit the ground running at some point most ppl seem to encounter problems. But the perserverance (sp?) is sooooo worth it. Nothing comes close to that closeness I've felt with Oscar in the last 6 months.
