Well after months and many scripts of Domperidone it looks like I have to admit defeat and give up BFing sooner rather than later.

My BFing consultant thinks it's a combo of factors. Matt was 5 weeks early (so breast not 100% ready), emergency C section (didn't have that burst of hormones to kick start production) and I couldn't hold him until he was over a week old. Plus I have two older children and my husband works away so the cluster feeding from 4pm to 10pm does not work when you're in that situation. I've been supplementing with formula for a few weeks (30mls) here and there and I've noticed a huge difference in Matt. Because my hubby has been away I have not had time to express :(. But the past two days he's had enough formula to equal 2 full formula feeds.

The past week or so my breast have not felt full even in the morning so I'm running out fast. I'm absolutely devo.

I feel like everything has gone wrong this time around from having to have a c section (natural is so much better and magical), having Matt in the NICU in a different hospital to me and now this. I wanted to not give him anything but BM until he was 6 months then continue giving him BM until he was 1. But it looks like it's out of my hands now. I have to keep reminding myself we are extremely lucky he is here alive and there are no last effects.

You have done so well sweetie, please think about what you have done for LO xx

Hun, you have done so well! I am on Domperidone now but if it stopped working, what can you do? You have done your best. I mixed fed my son from 7 weeks until 14 months but he was very fond of the breast. If you can, still give him couple of feeds more so you have that bonding time (if he wants to of course).
The main thing is that he is happy and healthy and you have given him a great start esp being prem

Tapatalking so cant see signatures

I think you've done amazing to give him your milk!!! You didn't have an easy time by the sound of it  don't beat yourself up. You did the absolute best under difficult circumstances. You should feel very proud of yourself!!!

You've done fantastically. You and your little man have had a rocky start, it's important that you do what you feel is right for you and your family and that you don't beat yourself up about it. xxxx
