I'm very proud to announce the arrival of my gorgeous son, Logan Andrew, born 7th October at 2120

0830 Noticed I was getting pains roughly every 10mins, and decided to start timing them. To start with they were coming roughly every 7mins lasting 40-50 seconds, then eventually were every 4-5mins still lasting 40-50 seconds. Although they were sore, I wasn't in alot of pain but decided to give the MW unit a phone, as my first labour went very quickly. They asked me to go in to be checked so I got my stuff together, and headed down with my OH.
1100 I arrived at the unit and was examined. I was 4cm dilated, and fully effaced, so they decided to keep me in. I spent the afternoon walking around the hospital with OH and bouncing on a ball.
1500 Was examined again and was no further forward. My contractions were also now very irregular so they asked me if I wanted to go home. I asked if I could stay and be re examined in a few hours which they were fine with.
1700 My contractions had now completely dwindled off, so I decided to go home. I got home and had a bath.
1830 Contractions had now returned and were 2mins apart lasting 30 seconds so OH phoned MW unit to let them know we were coming back in.
1900 Arrived and was examined again, was now 5com dilated and contractions were still coming every 2mins for 30 seconds, and were getting pretty sore. MW told me to keep walking about so I very slowly paced up and down the tv room.
2000 Pains were getting quite intense now so got OH to go and ask if I could get gas and air. we went through to the labour suite, where they had a massive lava lamp on which made the lighting in the room really nice and relaxed. MW showed me how to use the G&A and asked me to try and stay mobile so I paced up and down the labour suite with OH in tow with the G&A canister. It was really good, contractions still hurt like hell but felt alot better in between them.
By now I had lost track of the time. I started to feel alot more pressure so decided to get into my birthing position. The MW raised the bed up to a sitting position, and I kneeled over the top iykwim? My contractions strated to get pretty intense and I was starting to feel really tired. I started feeling the need to push and the MW said to go with what my body wanted to do, so started to push and after a few contractions of pushing, POP!, waters went, head popped out, one more push and Logan made his enterance into the world at 2120.
I was very lucky and had a very relaxed labour, which was very quick once it got going! I also never needed any stitches woohoo.
Logan is just adorable and such a good baby. He sleeps brilliantly and feeds well. Mummy and daddy are very proud
