Hi girls,

I had another scan today because lo was stubborn at the 20 week and wouldn't show us all of her spine. That was fine but I noticed as she was taking measurements, it came up on screen with GA 20.4 .weeks, then when I got out the ut said baby hasn't grown much in the last 2 weeks and that thyre referring me to a consultant to keep an eye on it.

I've got the app in 2 weeks but wish it were sooner, she told me not to worry as its probably fine but of course its playing on my mind now!

Anyone had similar experience??

Sorry hon, I don't have an experience to offer advice but didn't want to read and run. I have seen a couple of threads like this however and it is usually baby growing at a different pace, they're not all the same. They're just being cautious but obviously that doesn't stop you worrying. Hope you're ok.

Xxx

I dont know much about it specifically but just wanted to attempt some friendly advice :)
Hopefully everything is fine. But babies do grow at different rates and some of my measurements at my scan were 1-2 weeks ahead. It'll be hard and I'm not sure I could do it but maybe think of it as the same as that, just the other way. Measurements will differ and try not to worry which I know is so so easy to say.
Fingers crossed all is well and baby is just due a growth spurt! :)

I'm sure between now and your next appointment she'll have a big growth spurt!

We probably all go through stages of measuring "big" or "small" but we just don't know?

I know you won't stop worrying but try to keep positive!

xxxxxxxxxxx

Oh Hun, it's horrible having something playing on your mind! I am sure everything is fine and like carnat said you will probably have a big growth spurt in the next 2 weeks and all will be fine. Thinking of you Hun. Xxx

A friend had this at her scan and had scans through out but then caught up at the end! Try not to worry xxx

My friend is a really tiny girl she is size 6 and had this problem with both her boys the first was delivered early by emergency c section, and he was in hospital for a while as he didn't weigh much, she went a little further with her 2nd, she had a scan n was told he wasn't growing properly and had to go back 2 weeks later so they could decided to let her go further or do another c section, she ate like a horse for 2 weeks and the baby gained lots of weight and they let her go another 2 weeks before checking her again. This time the baby only put on a little weight so she had a c section the next day. But the baby was 4 pound when he was born so they could go home after a few days. Both her boys were fine so try not to worry, are you eating enough tho? Maybe it would help eating some more fatty foods?

As others have said, babies grow at different rates and go through growth spurts. With my first I was told at 20 week scan that he was big and they were worried about all kinds of things including diabetes which really worried me. I then went for a scan 3 weeks later and he was measuring pretty much bang on - panic over! Nothing more was ever mentioned about his size and he is perfect! Hope all goes well at your next scan :)

Thanks everyone, feeling a little better today. Annoying thing is they haven't booked me another scan yet, just an appointment with a consultant, but I don't understand what will happen in that appointment? I'm in the dark really as surely the only way is to keep checking her every few weeks or something?

Sounds silly but I got some reassurance this morning as I was thinking about it when I woke up and suddenly felt a huge kick, almost as if she was saying "don't worry, I'm ok!" :)

When's your appointment - any news? Hope baby Enid is growing loads. xxx

Hey Bev, thanks for asking :)
I had my consultant appointment last Tuesday and he told me that they're not really meant to measure baby if it's only been 2 weeks between scans as everyone grows differently and it's not enough time to get a real view.
Buuut, because they've mentioned it I'm having another scan next Tuesday and then seeing him after to discuss how she's getting on.. So my fingers are crossed that she has had some big growth spurts by then :/

Hope all's going well with you?! I Put in my maternity leave dates today at work, so exciting!

I haven't even thought about maternity leave yet! I forget to get my mat b 1 from my midwife so will have to start thinking about that soon I think. So glad all is ok with Enid. What a relief!! Xxx

Hi Hun I've not had a similar experience myself but I have lots of friends who have been told the same and were monitored closely. All have gone on to have perfectly healthy sized babies. I think they are just cautious. Try not to worry to much. Difficult I know xxx

I agree with the others. One of my friends had a scan because she was measuring small and yesterday she gave birth to a boy who was 8lbs 11 x

:) I just got given the Mat1B and am booking a years worth of holiday along side my maternity so thought I should give them a good amount of notice. It's a nice feeling as I have a countdown to leaving work in my head now too! Only 10 weeks to go!

Thanks for all the reassurance ladies! I'm hoping to see that she's grown lots next week! :)

Only 10 weeks!! I need to sort my self out, time is flying by!! Xxx
