Im at a loss as to how i can make my poor baby happy

She was suffering bad with reflux so we got baby gaviscon which helped a good bit but made her constipated , we got over it the first time but she been in bad way again so i skipped a few gaviscon doses and now she is in bits with the reflux again, ( and still no poo for now)

seems like no matter what shes gonna be in pain, if i stop the gaviscon shes gonna be in agony n if i keep it up she;s gonna suffer more with constipation

we had it under control with water but seems like its not working any more, might have to give a bit more lactoluse tmrw if she doesnt go

It killing me seeing her so sad, we only get about 1 hour a day of a happy baby the rest of the time shes miserable

id keep giving her the lactulose in small amounts while shes on the gaviscon hun, at least she will be happy that way. i know its not ideal to have to give her things but atm i have to give ALyssa infacol, nystatin drps for thrush and then put drops in her eyes for the conjunctivitis (which she hates) but once its done shes happy and her eye is almost better and i hope to get some more tablets n get rid of this bloody thrush soon too. needs must i think and you know what she needs. i feel for you tho hun x

i dont know if i can give it with the gaviscon , might call the out of hour doc and ask him, she just done a little pellet of poo and it was rock hard poor baby so its defo getting worse

i cant imagine they would be contraindicated, lactulose dosent affect stomach acid and gaviscon isnt for pooping problems so i should imagine its fine to give both, ask of course but ive taken both at the same time and it wasnt a problem in me and i have reflux. hopefully it will be ok and you can solve your problems x

Oh no, thats a wee shame!

Stick with the gaviscon, the pain of constipation isn't as bad as the pain of reflux. LO will poo eventually. Have you tried the usual things like warm bath, cycle movements? & I also seen a tip on another thread involving vaseline! Never tried it tho. My LO was constipated with gaviscon but stopped after a few days

xxxxxxxx

Agree with Littlemiss. Constipation is just uncomfortable but the reflux is alot more painful. I would stick to the gaviscon and try her with water, perhaps add a bit of orange in? Or even karo syrup? x

Can you give her some sort of prune juice? Not sure how old you have to be or where to get it xx

lol the vaseline one was from me, its what out of hours doc recomended lasst time it was bad but i couldnt bring my self to do it, she does be in agony with it though just as bad as the reflux, she now overtired n wont go asleep

gonna stick with the gaviscon and will give her the lactolose now i think so its couple of hours before her next bottle, shes had 60 ml of water but it doesnt seem to help anymore

have tired all lthe others too but no joy so think the lacto is my only option, but cant keep her on the for the duration of the gaviscon can i?

was told to avoide juice by doc but never heard of karo?what is that?

Ive been told a few times to add a teaspoon of sugar to some water to help constipated babies, 3 oz water to a small teaspoon of sugar. We are on the gaviscon as well but as she is on the comfort formula I think that is helping her poo has hardened like playdoh but she is having a few a day xx

My doctor told me to use a few drops of orange juice as Maisie has reflux and is using gaviscon and it makes her constipated - really feel for you but have to say after 3 weeks of using the gaviscon she seems to be improving and has not needed it for 2 days :)

see this is what i hate about the medical profession, everyone seems to be told something different by there doctors so how do we know what is and isnt safe, i just worry so much when shees so little

What do you think is best hun? Perhaps just put a few drops of orange in, cut an orange in half and squeeze 3 or 4 drops or even less, then its only a bit and not loads so it won't have a massive effect on the system, it is annoying getting told different things it bugs me, just go with what you think will be best, and if it doesn't work then at least you know and you can move onto something else x

My godson was very constipated as a baby and nothing worked for him. I had a call from his mum and took round a tin of prunes in pear juice, gave him 2 drops of the juice from a pipette and he went soon after. It doesn't take a lot to make them go when you finally find that magic ingredient that works for them.

Hope you find something soon hun so you can all get some rest  xxxxxxxxx
