I have posted on this subject before, but just wondered if anyone else has experienced this?

My baby has been kicking since about 16 weeks, always very definate, stong kicks that i can see and feel from the outside.

For the last week or so she seems to have stopped kicking altogether. She is still moving around, i can feel what i imagine to be "rolling" and i'm sure i feel hiccups and general wriggles, but there has been no kicking :?

I'm not overly concerned, as like i say i can feel movements, i just miss those definate kicks that OH can see and feel too.

Has this happened to anyone else? Should i be concerned do you think?

its normal, as the baby grows they run out of room and cant kick out as there is no room, as long as there is still movment i wouldnt worry!!! sometimes my belly used to roll from one side to another it was mad too watch!!!!!

Get it checked out. I'm 33 weeks and am still getting kicks although they are further between them. Be on the safe side eh.. as your only 23 weeks.

I was exactly the same. I days of definite kicks about 16 weeks and the LO would then go up to 2 days where i couldn't be 100% positive if i could feel anything.

LO still seems to have very active and very quiet days still

Hi again

Well i called my midwife on friday and she asked me to come to hospital. They did a doppler test and the heartbeat was good and strong at 150 bmp. Then they did a scan, and although baby is the right size etc, they could not detect any movement, so i had to see a consultant to discuss. Unfortunately he was in surgery so i had to wait for 2 hours before i got to talk to him :(

Basically he said there is little they can do, and as her heart is beating and she is growing, we just have to "wait and see". He told me to count the movements for an hour after breakfast, lunch and dinner, and i should be getting around 15 - 20 movements. Well so far, the most i've had is 3!!

They are going to give me another scan at 28 weeks (4 weeks time), and they will listen with the doppler at my next appointment on 17th March, but other than that i have to be patient and hope she starts kicking again.

Trying not to worry too much, as the heartbeat is striong, but its hard not to when you're alone with your thoughts!

Will keep you posted!

Its hard not to worry but im sure everything is fine. Sometimes my little one has quiet days when she is having a growth spurt. Keep and eye on it and if your worried give your midwife another call.

Have you got a doppler at home? When baby has quiet days I get a bit panicked so I listen in with the doppler which usually reassure me.

It is difficult not to worry when the pattern or frequency of baby's movements change. I have a day each week where I get hysterical because things seem different.
I am glad the hospital took you seriously and are monitoring the situation. A good, strong heartbeat is a good sign, hopefully you just have a very sleepy baby.
I hope the next few weeks pass quickly and that baby gets a wriggle on.

Rosie1 I'm sorry for the worry your LO is putting you through! I did find that from about 24 weeks my LO would have quiet days and I wouldn't notice the kicks as much, I think she was growing at these times though so had little energy for kicking. I hope yours gets a wriggle on soon

xxx

It could just be that you have a tranquil baby.

i also used to have quiet days with mine, but its much better to keep it thoroughly checked out, so make sure you tell your midwife /dr if you're not feeling the right amount of kicks- 4 weeks is a long way away
