HELLO

Thought I'd fain cheerfulness

Well hubby has keeled over with some symptoms that I've also been having the last week (and some that I haven't). I've been feeling extra bruised, extra sick and constant headaches......other half now has a chesty cough, banging headache and achey bones....so I think he's got flu or something

Now I've been giving him lemsips but it says on the back if pregnant ask your doctor
I've had the odd normal paracetomol but they don't go down well so I thought if I'm allowd lemsips I'll join him as I'm sure I've been incubating whatever he's got...just with all the morning sickness I didn't know I'd got a cold as well

When I was ill I asked m/w if I could have lemsip and she said no.

when i had the flew a few months back i took lemsips and thought nothing of it them people started telling me im not suppose to be taking them so i phoned nhs direct after about 2 hours of the docs having a look if they were safe the finally said they r safe but prefere pregnant wonen not to take them due to the decongestant phenylephrine hope that helps :D

i asked my midwife on thurs at my booking appointment, and she said that it was fine as long as it didn't contain asprin.

i made a post in 2nd tri about it last week too

I was told paracetamol was about it. Both from MW and GP.

I've used other non medical means to clear blocked nose and stuffiness etc. Head over bowl of steaming water, sipping hot water, drinking tea with honey and lemon etc.

TBH I've not taken a single pill or medicine while PG even when I felt like crap. I'm a great believer in building natural immunity and things like colds etc are toughed out. Even before I was PG I hardly would take anything for colds, bugs and so on, so nothings really changed for me. I also find sitting around makes me feel worse so once the morning crapness has passed I just get on with my day and usually feel ok. I sleep well the next night though :)

I doubt your OH has 'flu' proper else he'd have a temp etc. Chances are its a viral infection (ie nasty cold or bug).

My sympathies to your poor DH. I'm getting over a bout of the flu too.

I just stuck to paracetamol. I don't feel too happy about taking anything whilst pregnant but I had a fever and dreadful headaches every day for the last week so have resorted to the paracetamol.

Hope you don't catch full blown flu, it's knocked me for six. I'm up and about now but still full of cold and have a chesty cough. Just when I should be starting to feel better from entering 2nd tri :(

Listen to your body, if you do feel lousy, rest up.
