Hi thought I'd post this up incase it helps reassure anyone, I am a size 24 and pretty large with a big belly! I've been worrying myself sick that when the time came for my scan they wouldn't see anything as there is too many layers to go through!! (Lots of scaremongering on the internet about this) anyway was admitted to hospital last week due to dehydration and they gave me a scan to check everything ok, and I can honestly say they got a pic up of bean straight away and he was clear as day even tho only 7wks 4days so he was more like a blob with a heartbeat!! and she barely had to press down with the scan thingy, heard stories of larger ladies being left bruised after scans.
So anyone with extra insulation around the belly should be reassured you will be able to see your baby, and don't let them press too hard there is no need. Xxxx

Aww, I was worried about this too! I'm a size 16 but carry a LOT of weight around my tummy, I thought.. That's a hell of a lot of padding to see through, haha! But scan was still clear :)

same here haha.
i carry all my weight on my stomach so i was so scared when i had my 12 week scan that they wouldnt be able too see anything but bubba came up clear as day. Im upset that i wont get an obvious baby bump for a whilee however, so i guess thats the only downside (N)

Oh that's great to know. I, same size and having early scan next week and was worried. May I ask have they classed you as a high risk pg as my doctor said they might given my weight :-( xxx

I'm a big girl and my scans all came up much more clearer then my skinny friends ha ha! But they do put view ristricted by autoplasmy or somthing like that the rude gits!

In my last pregnancy two years ago, i was really annoyed i want for my 20 wk scan 5 times. Everytime the lady said it was because the baby was moving but staying in a ball and until he moved she couldnt do the measurements that she needed. I looked at every piece of paper she had put in from every scan a few weeks later she had put " due to high resolution of fatty tissue the scan has to be redone". i was really pissed off, i was a size 16 and everytime i had my scan my baby was really clear on the screen just not moving the way she wanted him to. She got me jumping up and down to make him move! Stupid women really peeded me off! x x x x x
