Can someone tell me how long it takes for a will to go through probate and any funds from that will to be given to the beneficiaries.. I've been told a year...But its a really long time compared to Spain so I'm not sure its true.. And the internet isn't very forth coming in terms of time periods, just what probate is..

Probs no less than a year, years about standard. My OHs mum had to wait a year before hers went through from his nanna.

Really? :? Thats such a long time... It can take a couple of weeks here thats why I asked... Does anyone know why it takes so long...In my particular case I know that it will probably be a more complicated case...

Its 6 months Squiglet - in our case the beneficiaries could take the money before that (had to make a joint decision though) but risked being asked for some back if any debtors came forward within the 6 month time period. After 6 months, any remaining debts are not claimable and the money was doled out.

Took about a year and half for my Aunties but after about six months we had a payouts every few months so the final settlement was quite small but yes I'd say about a year or more for a very complicated one.
