Is there anything a father can do legally to find out information about his unborn child, see scan pics, get health updates?

Really in need of some advice for a heartbroken friend

Im not sure there is hun...I may be mistaken but he may have to wait until the baby is born then get a dna done to determine paternity only then will he have any rights at all. x

That's shocking :(
Poor guy's only guilty of playing xbox too much and not tidings up well enough and he's desperate. As is his poor sister :(

Nothing can be done. When baby is born mum can chose not to put dads name on bc, if that happens he has no parental responsibility and therefore no legal rights to the child. He would have to go through the courts for a contact order, dna testing would prob be done if she disputed paternity to the court, and he would also need to apply for parental responsibility! Nothing can be done before birth xx
pm me if you need more info - non practicing family law solicitor x

Is he married to the woman, and does he live in Scotland?

Ok, so there are no rights for an unborn child but, so as far as parental rights are concerned, he wont have any automatically unless he is name is on the birth certificate.

Failing that, he will need to get a court order for parental rights.

Is the woman in question debating paternity?

It is a real shame, because there is so much bad press about fathers who don't want to know, and nothing can be done when its reversed!
