I've woken up to pain in both my legs at the back.

Pain is probably too strong a word - I tore my right hamstring last year and it's a similar discomfort I had with that. At first I thought it was to do with that injury but it's both legs.

Is this normal? Sorry to ask but I'm just a bit worried. I have a early scan at the hospital next week so will mention

It could just be that they're hurting after resting. I would mention it at your scan though xx

Could it be restless leg syndrome? That isn't painful as such, but to me feels like a constant ache, as if I'd walked 12 miles the day before. If what your are experiencing goes away or eases when you move, then it could be that.

I've suffered with RLS for years, but now I'm pregnant it has been way worse.

MW says there is nothing they can do. Just advised I eat magnesium and potassium rich foods. I also have a theory that too much sugar makes it worse.

Thanks - I have never heard of RLS before.

It does ease when I walk about and starts to hurt/ache when I'm sitting back at my desk. It gets more intense the longer I sit and don't move. Never had this before.

Most people haven't heard of it unless they get it. Don't be fooled by the name, you can get it in your arms too. It is the biggest cause of lost sleep in the last 8 weeks for me.

Leafy green vegetables (the darker the better), whole grains, nuts, seeds, bananas and sweet potatoes are all worth a go. Most pregnancy multivits will have some magnesium in them too.

I'd still mention it at your next appointment, since you have no pre-pregnancy history of RLS. I doubt they'll say anything different than they did to me but better to be sure :)

Sounds like cramp to me! Make sure your hydrated, maybe take a glass of water to bed to sip on if you wake!
